Dear Sierra Pedro,

Have students networked enough to survive in the professional world? I would like to introduce you
to a student organization that connects students to alumni to create connections for potential
career opportunities. This organization is in need of some promotion and would make a wonderful
article for Duck Life Magazine. I am hoping you will see this opportunity to tell a story about an
organization that provides University of Oregon students with the tools and methods they need to
succeed. Our goal is to connect students to alumni and enhance their experiences by providing
opportunities to strengthen a life-long bond with UO.

The University of Oregon Student Alumni Association (UOSAA or SAA) is the largest student
nonprofit organization that connects students to fellow Ducks and alumni through various
networking events. These events include formal dinners where students can connect with alumni
while learning proper dining etiquette. The SAA also hosts an event called “Ducks Escape,” where
students work with alumni and fellow Ducks to escape a room before the allotted time runs out.
This unique event encourages students and alumni to connect through team-building exercises. The
SAA`s office is located in the Ford Alumni Center, where many of the events are located.

Developing a network while in college is extremely important. When students network, they are
creating opportunities for themselves. Students may learn about internship opportunities or jobs
they can apply for after graduation. They may also discover tools to be successful during college.
They may also receive inspiration by other students and their goals. These are just a few reasons
why students should network as soon as possible and join the SAA.

This summer, the SAA will recruit incoming freshman and transfer students at all the IntroDucktion
events. The organization will have tables with current members and interns to answer any
questions that potential new members may have.

The main goals the SAA has is to connect students with alumni through networking events, increase
the organization`s membership, and increase awareness of the importance of student networking.
By writing to you, I hope you will see the need for the college community to know about the
Student Alumni Association.
