However as per the norms the final discretion lies with the VTU, Head Office - Belagavi. ‘+ The candidates have to opt course work for Ph.D/M.Sc. (Engg.) by Research from the relevant existing courses of VTU PG Program syllabus excluding the courses completed in their PG Program under their respective Board of studies in consultation with Research Supervisor along with a mandatory course work Research Methodology. + The candidates are requested to go through the instruction sheet “How to apply for Ph.D. /M.Sc. (Engg:) by Research Program -2018". ‘+ The following candidates are requested to provide the necessary documents along with the application form to seek the exemption from the VTU Entrance test (VTU-ETR) with the approval of admission committee > Full time NRI/ FN/ PIO Candidates, Faculty members Selected under QIP/FIP > Candidates qualified in the UGC-NET (Including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF) / SLET/ GATE/ CAT or any other similar national test having qualifying percentile scores in their respective validity periods. > Candidates with M.Phil Degree or equivalent as recognized by the university > Candidates failed to satisfy the above criteria as per the requirements; they have to take the VTU ETR test compulsorily.
