PRELIMINARY ISSUES

A. Have you ever followed any recipe to make a special dish?


B. Do you know any fruit in English? And vegetables?
C. Do you like fruits, vegetables, and vegetables?

DISCUSS INGREDIENTS FOR A RECIPE

1. VOCABULARY: Foods: Read and listen. Then listen again and repeat.

2. LESTENING COMPREHENSION. Listen to the conversations. Check the


foods you hear in each conversation.

3. PAIR WORK. Which foods do you like? Tell your partner.

4. GRAMMAR How many / Are there any

Use How many and Are there any with plural nouns.

How many onions are there? (Ten or twelve)

How many apples are there in the refrigerator? (I’m not sure. Maybe two)

Are there any lemons? (Yes, there are. OR Yes. There are three)

(No, there aren’t OR No. There aren’t any)


5. VOCABULARY: Places to keep food in a kitchen. Read and listen. Then
listen again and repeat.

6. PAIR WORK: Ask and answer questions about the Vocabulary pictures. Use
How many and Are there any.

UNIT 2 FOOD GUIDE PYRAMID

1. VOCABULARY: Explain the pyramid and its parts. Highlight the foods
that are part of each group. The teacher reads and the students
repeat as many times as necessary.

2. GROUP WORK: Each group will receive a poster paper; After they
will create the food guide pyramid; After this creation each group will
present to the classmates the poster produced.
UNIT 3 OFFER AND ASK FOR FOODS

1. VOCABULARY: Drinks and foods: non-count nous. Read and listen.


Then listen again and repeat.

Count nouns name things you can count. Non-count nouns name things you can
not count. They are not singular or

We have three tomatoes on the shelf. Cheese is my favorite food.
Be careful!

 Use singular verbs with non-count


nouns.
Rice is good for you.
NOT Rice are good for you.
 Don’t use –s or a / an with non-
count nouns.

4. GRAMMAR PRACTICE: Complete the chart. Be careful! Make the count


nouns plural. Then compare with a partner.

5. GRAMMAR: How much / Is there any.

Use How much to ask abou non-count nouns. Remember:

How much bread does she want? NOT How Use How many with plural
many… count nouns.

Is there any butter? Yes, there is / No there isn’t. apples are there?

6. GRAMMAR PRACTICE: Mark true (T) or false (F). If the question is wrong
explain with your words the reason for the error and correct it.

7. READING: Read a recipe with only three ingredients.

Hungarian Cabbage and Noodles

Ingredients:

1 large head of green cabbage

½ cup unsalted butter

11 ounces (700 grams) of egg noodles.

1. Cut the cabbage into small slices.

2. Put the cabbage into a large bowl and add salt.

3. Put the cabbage into the refrigerator overnight.

4. The next day, drain the cabbage.

5. Melt the butter in a large pan.

6. Sauté the cabbage until it ia light brown and very solt (30-40 minutes).

7. Cook the noodles and drain them. Mix them with the cabbage. Add lots and
pepper.

8. COOKING VERBS: Listening, reading, speaking and pronunciation.


Cut, add, put, drain, melt, sauté and cook.
9. READING COMPREHENSION: Answer the questions.
1. How many ingredients does the recipe have?
2. What are the ingredients?
3. Is there any butter or oil in the recipe?

10. LISTENING COMPREHENSION: Listen to the radio cooking program.


Write the correct quantity next to each ingredient. Then listen again and number
the pictures in the correct order. Listen again and check your work.

Pasta with Garlic and Olive Oil


Ingredients:
____ cloves of garlic.
____ tablespoons of olive oil.
____ box of pasta.

11. GROUP WORK: The group should create a recipe. After presenting to
colleagues and teacher.

Recipe:
NOTE: For inclusion students, besides the activities in par or group, activities of
speaking and listening, make the following memory game:
One can work with the making of drawings, and the creation of "foods" with
recycled materials.
