What is Orthographic Projection?

Orthographic projection is a drawing that represents a three-dimensional object

that is projected into a two-dimensional plane. A form of ‘parallel projection ‘in
which all the lines are ‘orthogonal’ to the ‘Projection plane’ which results in the
scene appearing in affine transformation on the viewing surface. The opposite
of an orthographic projection is an oblique projection, which is a parallel
projection were the projection lines are NOT orthogonal to the projection plane.
What is orthogonality?
Orthogonality is the generalization of the notion of perpendicularity to the linear
algebra of bilinear forms.
What is a projection plane?
A projection plane (plane of projection) is a type of view in which graphical
projections form an object. Projection planes are often used in descriptive
geometry and graphical representations – perspective drawings are a type of
projection plane.
What is affine transformation?
Affine transformation (affine map or affinity) is a function between affine spaces
which preserves points, straight lines and planes.
What is oblique projections?
Oblique projections are simple< technical drawings of graphical projections used
for producing two-dimensional images of three-dimensional objects, these
objects are not in perspective as they do not correspond to any view of an object
that can be obtained in practice, however the technique produces convincing
and useful images
