soldiers assigned to me, their individual job, as well as the squad’s tasks of being members of the M31E1
Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS) platoon. Tasked and trained in providing early warnings,
detection, location and identification of biological agents, and or biological warfare. Assisted the Platoon
Sergeant in planning, coordinating and supervising all missions that the squad is assigned to accomplish.

120 hours’ internship service. Volunteering to provides vector surveillance and control support activities
to the northwest region of Riverside County. Work at Lab Department with Dr. Angela Caranci, Assistant

Vector Ecologists (Greg Williams, John Lopez, and Tristan Hallum) to provide the District with vector
control services (mosquito, flies, rats, Africanized honeybees, black flies, midges and occasionally other
vectors of minor public health importance) over an area of 350 square miles with a population of
approximately 800,000. To fulfill the NWMVCD objective to serve the public health interests of the
residents, operations within the district are prioritized in evidence-based manner. The laboratory staff
are responsible with carrying out and reporting on a regularly maintained mosquito surveillance
schedule, supplemented with additional vector surveillance duties as need, including those focused on
ticks, black flies, and additional nuisance vectors.
