Dear Parent/Guardian(s),

Jefferson Elementary would like to invite your child to participate in our Summer School Program, which provides an
opportunity for students Grades 1 - 4 to extend their learning beyond the traditional school year. The program will focus
on reading and math skills and expand students interests with enrichment activities. Classroom teachers have
recommended students for this program based on scores from assessments given throughout this year and progress
toward meeting the grade level standards. We believe it is​ important for students to continue working on math and
reading in the summer so they don’t lose all of the learning they gained throughout the school year.

The program will be offered from ​July 9th​ to ​August 2nd​ on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ​In addition to working on reading and math, we will have a Genius Hour built into the day.
Genius Hour allows students to participate in science, inventions, technology, and other enrichment activities. Snack
will be provided at no cost to families. Transportation is not available for summer school. Parents will be responsible for
arranging their own transportation to and from school.

If you would like more information regarding our Summer School Program, please contact your child’s teacher or me at
507-233-3500. To enroll your child in summer school, please fill out the following information, sign, and return the
bottom portion to school by May 18th.
