1 After power off and next power on, unable to perform backup of system LU
Phenomena When the power of DKC is turned off (PS OFF) while a NAS cluster is running, monitoring
and reset of the other node run falsely (SIM code=ac84x0/ “NAS OS processor failure” is
reported), and the process of collecting hibernation dump may run in the DKC whose power is
being turned off. As a result, a pinned track would remain on the DUMP LU, and when the
power is turned on (PS ON) next time, NAS sees a DUMP LU failure, and management
operation from NAS Manager is affected (System LU cannot be backed up).
Contents With power turned off (PS OFF) while the NAS OS not connected with an external
authentication server, the process of stopping the Heartbeat stop monitoring function delays,
and one or more minute time difference could occur between the two nodes. In such a case, the
node in which stopping the monitoring function delayed detects a Heartbeat stop falsely, and the
process of resetting the other node runs. Though the channel of the node that received a reset is
off, it processes the I/O (collecting hibernation dump), and the phenomenon occurs as a result.
System LU cannot be backed up from NAS Manager because DUMP LU has management
information on system LU backup as well as DUMP information, and if a DUMP LU failure
occurs, an error in reading the management information would occur.
The micro-program has been modified to fix the problem.
Conditions When the power is turned off (PS OFF) while all the following conditions are met, the
phenomenon may occur.
NAS Blade is installed in RAID450.
The NAS cluster is running.
CIFS share resources exist, and they are on one node.
An external authentication server (Active Directory or NT Domain Controller) is used, and a
user mapping function is used.
An external authentication server (Active Directory or NT Domain Controller) cannot be
connected.
