Intern, Niskayuna High School (600 hours) Niskayuna NY, January-May 2017

 One-on-one counseling sessions: Some walk-in students, most others were weekly meetings.
 Consulted with my on-site supervisor about students/school or state policies about specific topics unknown
to me.
 Proctored several AP exams, and the SAT exams.
 Collaborated with the social worker on giving presentations about depression and suicide to all 9 th grade
students during PE classes; There were approximately 15 to 25 students per group.
 Developed and facilitated one large Mindfulness group by pushing into health classrooms, which had not
been done before; There were approximately 25 students per session.
 Developed and facilitated four small group counseling sessions with students at risk of failing.
 Assessed data taken from large and small groups.
 Communicated with families.
 Participated in weekly elementary school groups on sportsmanship, and academic success; there were six
students per group.
 Scheduled students’ course selections using the PowerSchool program, and used the Naviance (both from
the student perspective and counselor perspective).

earn different diplomas.

Intern, Niskayuna High School (120 Hours) Niskayuna, NY, September-December 2016

 Practicum
 Developed my skills within the counseling office of Niskayuna High school where I partially observed, and
partially participated in counseling activities.
 Co-facilitated a four week long New Student small group and a study skills group with approximately 7
students, watched parent meetings, sitting in on weekly student study meetings, and large group counseling.
 Gained more knowledge in using PowerSchool and Naviance.
