First and foremost it has been a great
honour and privilege to teach at Ieglaasi
Nieyah. An environment where you are
always surrounded by positive people,
where Allah (SWT) is always the main part
of our lives, and everyone acts as constant
reminder to one another. It is surely the
best environment to teach in.
My experiences as an educator thus far
has been nothing but good experiences.
Oh yes, you have your bad days but I can
certainly say that my good days outweighs
the bad days. I have only recently started
as an educator at Ieglaasi Nieyah School,
and after 2 days of being in my classroom,
I've immediately grown attached to my
learners, the educators, and the
environment which we work in. I have
never seen learners so eager to learn and
so hungry for knowledge. I believe that
coming to school every day full of
motivation and positivity is key, and that’s
my motto. As an individual you have to
keep yourself motivated and that’s what I
strive for.
I remember when I just started at Ieglaasi
Nieyah my classroom was very dull, not
very colourful. A good looking classroom
helps with stability, motivation, and
positivity. I then decided to get my learners
actively involved with helping to decorate
the classroom. I have never seen learners
so eager to help. Everyone worked hard,
and I gave ideas about what was to go on
the poster.

Palestinian Awareness: Boycott Apartheid Israel

4. Foundation phase excursion: Grade 1-3 learners
attended the LOFOB (League OF Friends of the Blind)

blind people face, as well as the sports they participate
in.
5. Grade 4 excursion: The theme? Life and Living. The
learners had to identify all the living creatures on the
shore and in the sea, as well as non-living things.
Mathematics was also integrated into the N.S.T lesson.

On the 14 March 2017 the Ieglaasi
Nieyah School took part in the Boycott
Israel week. The school had a photo
exhibition showing all the companies
that is trading with the apartheid Israel
state. The Principal Mrs. Solomon said she
was pleased and extremely proud of the
teachers, staff, and especially the
learners who put together the program
in one week. The goal was to educate
the learners about the brutal oppression
that the Palestinian people suffer under
the Zionist-and how we can support the
people of Palestine by showing
apartheid is wrong, and comparing to
how their own parents suffered under the
apartheid in our country.
The program started at 10am with the
opening qiraah performed by Umar (grade
6) and a Duah by Mekaeel (grade 4).
Thereafter, Haji Abdullah Waggie was
asked to give a brief history of the
sacredness of Masjidul Aqsa, but it was the
learners who brought tears to the eyes of
the parents who also came to show their
support. Learners had posters, sang
Nasheeds, and read Poems. Even grade R
showed their support by shouting “free free
Palestine!”
They then move to Alpine road where they
had a placard demonstration. Back at the
poster viewing, the learners express their sorrow
of what the Zionist is doing to the innocent
children of Palestine. The promise not to drink
Coke anymore and will not wear Nike takkies.
The Principal said that she would like to have
another photo exhibition so that more parents
can be made aware of the struggle of the
Palestinian people.
