1. General Description
1.1. General
Model HI VISION Avius is a multi-functional ultrasound diagnostic scanner in which Doppler, ColorFlow
Mapping, etc. are provided and all circuits related to image quality are fully digitalized.
As not only linear and convex scan type probes, but also phased array scan type probe can be operated with
HI VISION Avius, it is possible to use it for any field of application.
Furthermore, High-definition dTHI (HdTHI) mode (Hitachi unique technology) are provided in standard
function.
This mode provide “Clear image” to reduce artifact such as vibration echo, and to improve spatial resolution
and contrast resolution.
HI Com function, HI REZ+ function, Trapezoidal display function, Oblique B-mode image function,
real-time Doppler trace, cine memory, patient data management function, and Real-time Archiving function
can be used on the standard model.
Wide view software, Stress echo software, Software specified Contrast Agents, cardiac measurement
software, Real-time Tissue Elastography, omni-directional M (ODM) mode, Remote control unit, Picture in
Picture software can be used optional function.
It is convenience for user to adopt Ergonomic design and 17-inch digital LCD Monitor and more improved
High-definition screen-displayed format.

1.2. Features
 True digital architecture
Due to beamformer which is decisively concerned to the image quality and all image processing are
digitalized, high spatial resolution, wide dynamic range and high contrast resolution are realized.
Ultrasound transmit circuit is improved by high performance transmit amplifier, and ultrasound receiving
circuit is improved by high performance pre-amplifier.
Frame rate is improved much more faster comparing with conventional system.
High quality image is digital image processing application.
This architecture that is achieved high quality image is good for new generation.

 Quick response
Mode changing, image condition settings, probe changing and application selection can be performed
quickly so that operator can pay attention to the patients.

 Usable for wide field of application


Linear, convex and phased array scan type probe are usable. It is possible to cover from abdominal and
obstetric to cardiovascular fields.

 17-inch digital LCD Monitor
It is adopted 17-inch digital LCD Monitor. LCD Monitor provides high quality image.
The LCD simple arm that optimizes the position of the LCD monitor and the operational panel provides ease
of use. The LCD flexible arm that can adjust height and four-way position provides freely position of
monitor.

 High-definition screen-displayed format


The resolution of the monitor is increased and the layout of the screen is displayed to the high-definition. The
inspection efficiency is improved by additional information and the operation assistance on the screen.
- Design
The screen design which looks big ultrasound image.
- Tab menus
It is easy to use the tab menus to switch applications, perform measurements, and activate annotations.
Because it is positioned out of diagnosis area.
- Brightness Setting
It is adjustable character and background brightness level on the screen depends on setting condition.
- Image size change function
The image size can be changed under certain conditions.

 Ergonomic design
- Design
Design is adopted to focus on user’s “easiness to use”, like front layout of probe connector, based on
ergonomics.
- Easily operable keyboard
As key arrangement is taken in consideration of frequency of use and operational has improved. An
optional alphanumeric keyboard that is adopted backlight keyboard improves key response and
visibility.
- Excellent mobility with four swivel casters
As all the four casters are of swivel type, it is easy to move in narrow space.
Due to reduced friction force to floor it is easy to move from ward to ward.
- Probe rest
It connects 3 probes simultaneously and has 1 dummy connector.

 Use interface
Workflow is improved because of new GUI.
It is a few procedures for many functions to use screen buttons.

It is applicable to browse instruction manual on your HI VISION Avius.

 Various B-mode scan
- HI Com function
Compound function provides high spatial resolution, wide dynamic range and high contrast resolution.
- Trapezoidal display function
Trapezoidal display is applicable for linear probe.
It is improved diagnosis area for linear probe.
- Oblique B-mode image function
This function enables you to use oblique function not only CFI/CFA mode but B mode.

 High quality image technique.


- High-definition dynamic tissue harmonic imaging (HdTHI) Mode
High-definition dynamic tissue harmonic imaging (Hitachi unique technology) provide “Clear image” to
reduce artifact such as vibration echo, and to improve spatial resolution and contrast resolution.
- Adaptive Imaging (HI REZ+)
Adaptive imaging is the technique to generate optimum image with changing filter characteristic
depending on input signal.
This technique which installed this ultrasound diagnostic scanner reduces speckle noise on B-mode
images and provides uniformly and high contrast images.
- Fine Flow function
It is the function to display high frame rate and fine high-definition color Doppler image.
It is possible to display small vessel less blooming than original system.
- Automatic image optimization (HI Support)
It is the function to adjusts B mode parameters (Gain, TGC and Depth-specific PDC) and PW mode
parameters (Gain, PRF and Baseline) so that it may become the optimal image automatically, and leads
to shortening of inspection time.

 Real time Doppler measurement function


Automatic tracing function and measuring function in Doppler-mode have been allowed to apply only to
frozen images, but with this function it is possible to perform it to real time images which contributes to
shorten the time for examination.
It is displayed position of Doppler waveform and Vp, Vd values of Doppler waveform in real time.
After Freeze, you can select the trace and measuring results of any past waveform by playing cine
memory images frame-by-frame and turning the PW Gain encoder.

 Filing function.
- Examination data management
Examination data (images measurement results and other data) can manage and operate together, so it is
easy to refer data before an examination and after an examination.
- Multiple functions to save data
No image degradation because of digital image recording.
This filing function can record still images and multi images not only HDD include system) but also
DVD-RAM, DVD-R, USB memory and USB HDD.
- Easy-to-use filing function
In the Filing window, you can view examination data.
It is consideration for easy-to-use in the routine examination by filtering Patient ID or Patient name or
keyword search.
Thumbnail view provides easy access to destination image.
Review images can display 1/4/9/16 screen depend on choosing images.
- Patient data management
You can select the patient in the list view who had examination once.

 Omni-Directional M mode (ODM) function


Usually the normal M-mode image is controlled by the beam direction.
With this function, it is possible to display the M-mode image on an optional line on the B-mode image, so it
enables to perform more accurate left ventricle volume measurement.

 Real time Tissue Elastography


Real time Tissue Elastography imaging is a qualitative imaging technique that displays the relative tissue
stiffness by detecting strain.

 Digital video archiving function


It is the function to record a B-mode and a color mode image as a digital movie file on real time. The
operational of the monitoring of contrast agents and recording of digital motion picture is improved by this
function.
It is possible to use Clip capture mode that is suitable for clip analyses and Long time recording mode.

 Contrast harmonic imaging function


With this function enabling to produce images further effectively from signal coming out of the contrast
agent it is possible to improve to diagnose the existence of tumor with ease. Two or more ROIs can be set up
to the video recorded by contrast echo inspection, the Time-Average (Time-Intensity) value in ROI can be
indicated by graph, and quantitative analysis is possible.

 DICOM function
This software can transfer ultrasound images and measurement reports to a storage server.
It has a Storage Commitment function for ultrasound images.
This software can output and read ultrasound images in DICOM file format.
This software has a function to obtain WorkLists from the MWM server.
It has a function to send examination start and completion notifications for ultrasound images to the MPPS
server.
And it can be sent Ultrasound images to grayscale or color DICOM printers.

 4D function
3D ultrasound images can be viewed in almost real-time. As the scanning part of the probe swings
automatically in a fan-like fashion, it sends signals to the three-dimensional display unit, which rapidly
builds a 3D image based on the probe’s signal.

 STIC function
Multiple 3D images representing a single heartbeat can be displayed by automatically swinging the
scanning part of the probe in a fan-like fashion and estimating the cardiac cycle from the obtained images.

 3D function
The software is able to collect sequential 2D image data by using a probe to scan at a steady rate and then
display the collected data as 3D images.

 Advanced Measurement function


- %WT measurement
Measurement useful to heartbeat diagnosis of thickness change of heart muscle etc. is enabled by tracing
automatically the movement toward a heart tissue in arbitrary positions.
- Color tissue tracking measurement
The changes of myocardium thickness are automatically tracked and their strain amount is displayed as
colored movies on the screen. The graph of the changes of myocardium, caliper on the graphs, movie
outputs, tracking data outputs can be possible. Bull’s eye can be created by loading the tracking data which
three cross-sectional surface of APICAL, MID and BASAL.
- LA tracking measurement
The motion of left atrium wall is automatically tracked so that the volume of left atrium and other
parameters against time are measured.
- IMT measurement
IMT (Intima-Media Thickness) measurement is enabled by detecting the position of intima and adventitia
of carotid artery.

 Remote control function


Freeze, REF, mode and etc. keys of the operation panel can be switched by remote control.
