uncle, Laban. There are three dots over a single g in the form of a s2YltI in this

the Mm at 3:17 and 4:43. Such three-dotted gs interchange freely with one dot
in ML and would appear to have no special significance, both forms indicating

(Mynatt, Sub Loco Notes, 90, 190), it is to be linked with varying traditions
enumerating the defective and plene forms of the f. pl. of bwf, disregarding pre-
fixes. Ginsburg, 1, f, ⁄ 54a, carries the heading “five times defective in this
form” and gives Gen 6:2; 41:26a; 41:26b; 41:22; Deut 6:10 (the reference to
Gen 41:22 is contra textum of ML; it should feature Gen 41:35 instead, the work
of a careless Masorete, according to Ginsburg). In ML only the Mp at Gen
41:26b indicates “five times defective.” The Mp at Gen 6:2 reads “four times
defective” and BHS features a similar note for Deut 6:10 (ML has no Mp for
Gen 41:26a and 41:35). The Mm of MM1 at Deut 6:10 also features “four times
doubly defective” but lists Gen 41:26 only once, and features Jer 12:6 (which is
doubly plene in ML) in place of Gen 41:35. The complexity of these varying
lists points to considerable variation in the different traditions regarding these
doubly defective occurrences.
