Q. Describe briefly your current or most recent job responsibilities.

State the knowledge and skills

you have acquired from this experience.
A. My most recent job responsibilities include active participation in strategic thinking in disrupting
new technologies and trials, creation of business cases and presentations for business along with
technical analysis. Thus, I am responsible for being a link between the technology and business.
Ongoing project of involvement is trial for v-RAN solution. I am responsible for creation of technical
presentations and present to the business in understandable terms, for making sure the criteria for trial
are met as per standard norms, for conducting and leading meetings with the third party and home
party for discussion of the trial methods. I have created, evaluated and validated the advantage gained
after disruption of new technology against the current one, and done analysis of suitable cluster for
selection across various circles in India which meet optimum requirement in terms of the latest 3G,
4G payload, traffic, 4G handset penetration, and usage. Through this project we are aiming to achieve
capex and opex savings by around 36% each approximating to save around 90 million euros.
From leaning and polishing excel skills to leading a meeting, the skills acquired are cross-functional
knowledge, good communication and presentation skills, able to dialogue with people from all ranks
in the organization, ability to learn how the parts relate to each other and the big picture.
Q. Describe briefly the most important situation in which you have demonstrated leadership skills
during your professional career. (not exceeding 250 words)
A. Patrakarpuram’s Pride- I pride myself on my ability to be a leader when the situation demands.
One such incidence in during the retail stint in the training period in Vodafone, as Technology
Trainee. I was to shadow the Store Manager in one of the flagship stores in Lucknow’s Patrakarpuram
area. The store’s sale had been stagnant for a few weeks by then. I thought of trying to boost the sales
through a contest. After taking the Store Manager’s approval, as part of my stint, I initiated an internal
contest in the store among the Customer Care Executives (CCEs). In the gate meeting, I explained the
contest as follows:
The contest was conducted among 10 CCEs, dividing them into group of 2, with one team leader
each. In group of 5 each, 2 teams will fight to be the “Sultan of Sales” by maximising the sales of
Postpaid, Mobile Internet, m-Pesa, and mobile app. I made sure that the team leaders report the
overall sales to me and kept track of the progress in form of self-designed matrix.
The contest was designed for a week on trial basis, and the results of the sales of the week of the
contest, were compared with the same week of the previous month. By the end of a week’s trial, this
initiative of mine was able to boost sales by 33.37%
Q. Describe briefly the most important situation in which you have demonstrated your ability to work
in teams during your professional career. (not exceeding 250 words)
A. My current role as Deputy Manager involves a lot of team work, both in the department and across
departments in the entire organization. Right from brainstorming to lay out the plan for new
technology ideas to their execution in various phases, my closed team of 4 in the organization is
known for meeting the deadlines efficiently. The ongoing project has provided me with the
opportunity to work with the circle teams in the home party and the third party, take and share inputs
for trial improvisation. The project also allows me to take inputs from people at different levels of the
organization starting right from Managers to Director, confidently and comfortably.
One recent instance of showcasing my ability to work in teams is: being the youngest and the least
experienced member in the Technology Strategy division in Vodafone corporate team, I made efforts
to be at par with the technical acumen of my other team members by amplifying my learning about
technical side of the business by taking up online courses and accessing reading material. In the
course of the act, I did not feel shy to reach out to my other experienced team members whenever I
felt I could not understand through the stated medium. Eventually, in very less time I enabled myself
to take part in strategic discussions with the team and the third party senior professionals.
4. Why do you wish to go for a management career?
I feel as a graduate, I have always felt my ability to understand and contribute to only limited part of
the business and have felt the lack of decision making independently. The recent Reliance Jio launch
which shook the telecom industry made me realise how at the senior managerial position with sound
business knowledge I could contribute to different aspects of the company affairs, see the bigger
picture and design strategy for the best interest of my company.
As a part of management studies, I will have the core curriculum consisting of marketing, accounting,
finance, statistics, economics, management and organisation behaviour, which lay the foundation for
360 degree view of how to run a company and manage people. Not to forget mentioning the
pedagogical methods employed in B-school, like case studies, presentations, project research paper,
and enriching debates with the peers and professors which are innovative and effective to enrich the
experience of gaining knowledge.

5. What alternative careers are you considering and why?

I would consider being either being on top managerial position of leading image consultancy firm, or
to start one on my own. Reason being I have been a firm believer that clichéd as it might sound first
impression is the last impression. In this fast-paced world one only gets little time to make a stellar
impact both personally and professionally. I have seen and experienced the kind of confidence the
right projection of self in sense of poise, polish and style instil in individuals, which I believe is
imperative to bring out the best of oneself.

6. Strengths and weakness

Strengths-
Quick to adapt- I am quick to adapt to new work environment including people and learning new
things. This has helped me greatly at my workplace in taking up a key role in short period of time. It
has also helped me not to shy away from asking for help whenever needed.
Efficient in structuring task- My structural, social and analytical thinking have enabled me to
structure task at hand even if it is complex. A story that demonstrates this strength is the initiative to
boost sales in one of the Vodafone stores, which was accomplished by the limited skill set that I
possessed but with the right approach. I feel happy about the fact that it produced significant result.
Communication skills and Presentability- Good communication skills enable me to take lesser time
in mingling with my colleagues and to put forward my views in front of people of all ranks in the
organization. Presentability instils in me the confidence to react appropriately as per different
situations and helps enable me to give my 100% immediately.
Weakness-
Too much involvement in work- Sometimes I tend to involve in work more than the situation
demands and have known to ignore to health in past. I am working towards prioritising tasks and
scrutinise the amount of effort to be put into work in order to successfully achieve professional results
without compromising personal aspects like health
Limited confidence of independent decision making- I feel only limited confidence to take
independent decisions professionally. Even when the situation demands of my quick decision at my
level, I tend to cross-check with the senior managers thereby delaying the work at hand. I feel by the
time I am done with MBA, this will not be a problem at all.
Paying too much attention to the detail- I sometimes get emotionally involved with the work and
start paying attention to even the tiniest details which could be skipped for the big picture. I have been
in a situation where I felt this sometimes has impact on my work when I take longer than necessary to
complete the given task.

7. What is your most significant accomplishment so far?

My most significant accomplishment professionally so far has been able to design and implement a
platform, Performance Calculator, for fast, reliable and effective identification of poor performing
cellular-sites by analysing the network architecture and thereby reducing the processing time from 7
to around 1.5 minutes. It is significant because it allowed me to step out of my comfort zone of zero
knowledge of macros in VBA.
Q. Tell us about yourself
A. My name is Aditi Gupta. I come from middle class family where humility and honesty are the core
values. My father is Technology Officer in NTRO, which comes under PMO and my mother is a
homemaker. I have done my graduation from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and am currently working as DM in Technology Strategy
division of Vodafone India corporate, prior to which I have gained cross-functional experience such
as retail, sales, network and IT for one year in Vodafone as Technology Trainee. Being the only child
has taught me to reach to people without being shy and my active involvement in PM group of college
has made me a people person. I am known to do the work in hand not only with utmost sincerity but
also make it fun for me and my colleagues. In my free time, I love following latest fashion trends and
leading fashion bloggers via Instagram, belly dancing, and travelling
Q. Short term and long term goals
A. Short term goal is to be a part of leading consulting firm with variety of project opportunities and
have enhancement of personal finance so as to live a comfortable life with good lifestyle. The long
term goal is to be in the top most managerial position of a consultancy firm so as to attain complete
satisfaction of the professional life or to start a consultancy firm of my own. And most importantly be

Airline pricing analysis

This is a mini project based on the study of Premium Economy Vs Economy Ticket Pricing by
Airlines. The main research question that we are concerned with is “What factors explain the
difference in price between an economy ticket and a premium-economy airline ticket?” Some
other questions to be answered are: How Premium and Economy class ticket prices vary in
domestic and International Flights respectively? Does the Relative Price increase or decrease
with percentage of premium and economy seats? What are the other contributing factors?
