For today i have prepared a short presentation about the british royal family

At first obviously the queen Elizabeth the second

And here I ve got some simple facts about her lifetime which I am going to elaborate later
So Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on 21 st april 1926 in London so she is now 92 years
old
In 1947 she married prince Philip Mountbatten
And in 1953 on 2nd 27 year old Princess inherited the crown and stays on the British throne till today
Queen Elizabeth the second has been the monarch of united kingdom of great Britain and northern
Ireland for 66 years and 4months so this is quite impressive

As a child Elizabeth was very good student but she didn’t go to school – teachers and tutors from Eton
came to her instead. During the childhood princess was surrounded by adults so she became mature
and calm kid. She was nicknamed Lilibet by her younger sister Margareth
Her education ended when the war started. In 1939 she decided that she would like to serve in the
army and fight against the germans. In 1945 as a 18 year old girl she joined women’s territorial
service and became truck driver and mechanic
after war she came back to her royal duties

In 1934 she first met prince Philip mountbatten. Few years later they began corresponding and fell in
love with each other and decided to marry. The engagement was officially announced in 1947
and in the end after small scandal the married on 20 th November 1947

In 1953 Elizabeth started her reign but at the time of her birth no one really thought of her as a
future queen. Then she was third in the line of succession to the throne so that possibility that she
would ever have the crown was low. She was only the king Edward ‘s niece and Britons thought he
would marry and have children
The reality occurred to be a little different king Edward VIII fell in love with an American divorcee
Wallis Simpson who had 2 husbands before meeting the monarch
As well as being the monarch of UK the king or queen is also the head of church of England which
prohibited marriages with divorced person. Edward couldn’t break the rules and had to make a
choice between love and throne. He decided to abdicate, leave the country, abandon the royal tilte
and marry his fiancé
After those events elizabeth’s father George VI became the king of great Britain and lilibet was then
first to inherit the crown
After 17 years of reigh the king died and his eldest daughter became queen of the kingdom . The
coronation took place on 2nd june and she is still the monarch

Now the figure of prince Philip- he was born in Greece as Prince of Greece and Denmark, but he left
the country with his family when he was a baby. He lived in France Germany and then decided to visit
United Kingdom and stayed there till today
In 1934 he first met princess Elizabeth and few years later they began corresponding via letters. They
fell in love with each other and decided to marry. The official engagement was announced in 1947
and was considered as a scandal because of his background. Prince Philip mountbatten was a forign
born man whose family had nazi links- his sister’s husband was german officer and this fact caused a
controversy. In the end king George the VI allowed his daughter marry him and the ceremony took
place on 20 November 1947.
His royal duties were to support the queen, accompany her in events and do a representative role.
Philip retired from his royal work in 2017 at the age of 96. During his relationship with Elizabeth he
has completed more then 22 thousand of solo engagements so that’s an impressive number

Last year they celebrated the seventieth anniversary of their marriage.

The royal couple has 4 children -3 sons and 1 daughter

The eldest descendant is Prince Charles , then Princess Anne was born, next Prince Andrew and the
youngest is Prince Edward.
As you know the next monarch will the eldest queen’s child so Charles is expected to be the future
king. Obviously long live queen Elizabeth but she is in her nineties and british people start to think
about their new sovereign.
Prince Charles has just celebrated his 70 th birthday and as his closest friends say he isn’t willing to
become the king. What’s more there has been a survey conducted among few thousand of English
people who chose Charles as the least favourite member of the royal family
Charles was married to lady Diana Spencer but the relationship ended with a divorce in 1996
They have two sons together. Unfortunately Diana died in 1997 in terrible car accident in paris.
Since then prince has remarried. His wife is now Camilla Parker Bowles who is a divorcee.
In this case Queen Elizabeth decided to allow his son to marry a divorced person but when the
ceremony took place in 2005 she and prince philip didn’t come to the wedding

As I said before Charles and Diana have two sons. The elder one is Prince William- duke of Cambridge
He is 35 years old now and he is loved by british crowds. Another questionare proved that people of
UK would rather him become a king rather than prince Charles. In my view it won’t happen as Charles
would have to abdicate ,leave his royal title and the country. Additionally it would be a big shame.
In 2011 wiliam married Catherine middleton who is one year older than him. Duchess of Cambridge
devotes herself in social work- she helps charities and organizations connected with children’s
mental health, emotional wellbeing, but also poverty abuse neglect and loss of family

The couple has 3 children together

Prince George of Cambridge who is 5 years old
Princess Charlotte born in 2015
and new born baby Prince Louis

What’s interesting is prince george’s style of clothing. AS you can see in the picture the is wearing
shorts and long knee socks. He does that even in autumn and winter when it is very cold. There is a
reason for this royal tradition says that trousers are appropriate for teenagers and men while young
boys should not wear them. Long trousers are suitable for middle class kid, not the future king

Now younger brother Harry. He is 33 years old now but in his youth he was known as royal bad boy.
There were few scandals with him in the main role – smoking weed, going to rehab for one day,
fighting with paparazzi , breaking the royal rules and cheating in Eton college with help of the tutors
Last month he married Megan Markle- now duchess of Sussex.
She used to work as an actress and is famous for her role in American series “” suits””
The marriage also met with some controversy as Meghan was married before. This time queen
showed her flexibility, allowed for the marriage and attended the ceremony .
The wedding was also very orginal and most of the viewers enjoyed it

I have also prepared some facts about the family which I found particularly interesting
Queen celebrates her birthday twice a year. One on her actual birthday and the second on the second
Saturday of June- its about some tradition introduced by king George the second about two hundread
years ago. He had his birthday in November when the weather wasn’t good enough for him to
celebrate so he decided that he will do it two times a year and tradition continues till today

Queen wars vivid and bright colours to be noticed by crowds because she wants to be in the center of
attention

Queen loves animals and her favourite are dogs and horses- her loved dog pedigree is corgi and in her
lifetime she has had more than 30 of them. Unfortunately the last one died two months ago

The royal family are not allowed to play monopoly. In 2008 prince Andrew said that during the game
the become too competitive and decided not to play it

Non roayals are not allowed to touch them. But this rule is often forgotten

Elizabeth can drive in Uk without any driving licence. She doesn’t have it and that’s a bit ridiculous as
during the war she was mechanic and truck driver
what’s more she was seen not wearing seatbelt

Every elizabeth’s kid is dicorced. Except prince Edward

Queen uses her purse to send special signals when she isn’t willing to talk with someone. After the
sign Her people come and take her out of an awkward situation

Every single day queen eats a piece of chocoalate cake and drinks four cockatails. The recipie for the
cake is a secret and she has been having it for 80 years

Prince’s Harry real name is Henry. HARRY IS ONLY A NICKNAME
