Obama Health Care Reform

Obama Health Care Reform-NO!!

When it comes to our health care system, most of us agree that America is re
ady for a change. We need a system that delivers accessible, high quality care,
but we can t achieve this goal with government policies that attack the foundation
of our current health care system which is employer sponsored health insurance.
The Obama administration and members of congress are pushing legislation to set
up a government run health care system. This government run system would operat
e in competition with private health insurance that is commonly provided by many
employers to employees and their families. Employer sponsored health insurance
is the backbone of our nation s health care system and if this health insurance is
banished this would affect 160 million Americans. Do you want the future of hea
lth care be in the hands of a few politicians, the same politicians that are mak
ing themselves exempt from their own policies?
This trillion dollartakeover of health care will just make things worse for us A
mericans. This plan will add hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit. It
would also mean new taxes and a huge backdoor premium that will make health care
costs even higher, not lower. Businesses and taxpayers will be stuck paying for
a government run plan through higher taxes, these costs we cannot afford at thi
s time when our economy is facing real challenges.
This new health care reform will cover fewer medical procedures and each America
n will have long waiting periods before they can get the medical care they serio
usly need. Under this plan if you need surgery or a transplant it may take so lo
ng for the government to O.K. the medical procedure you need that you may die be
fore your treatment is approved. Other countries with this same government run p
lan has put price tags on the lives of their citizens. This health plan oversees
your care and it makes the ill patients wait for the critical care they need to
survive. Sadly,...
Disadvantages of Obama's heath-care reforms
Introduction
President Obama s healthcare reform policy is aimed at enabling the American
s gain better control of their healthcare. Through this healthcare overhaul, the
president aims at making healthcare insurance affordable through providing a ta
x cut to insurance premium for American families as well as small business owner
s. According to the president, this healthcare overhaul will make over 31 millio
n citizens who earlier on did not access healthcare be able to do so. Although t
he reforms are aimed at increasing benefits to the citizens, a lot of contradict
ions emerge which put the reforms into jeopardy. Several restrictions, mandates
as well as fines make the viability of the proposed reforms almost impossible. S
uch privileges as choosing ones doctor, reduced premium payment as a result of h
ealthy lifestyles or the ability to buy an insurance policy which covers recent
drugs and diagnostic test in the proposed healthcare
reforms will be lost (Reid 43). There some underlying reasons as to why this ref
orm will be a disadvantaged among individuals paying or even overpaying in order
to benefit all.
Inability to choose contents of a plan
The bill requires that people buy insurance through qualified plans which
are given by healthcare exchanges. These exchanges would be developed in each st
ate thus any form of competition in regard to the services offered will be elimi
nated. Federal Governments will be tasked with imposing the benefits of insuranc
e packages. Although the senate bill has incorporated prescription drugs as well
as mental health benefits, insurance of children below age twenty six, it will
be difficult for such individuals to know the content of their plans and what th
ey are be required to remit (Shi and Singh 70). The department of health service
s will be charged with formulating and adding other benefits to be accrued by an
individual.
Inability to pay real costs
