1. INTRODUCTION
Two types of teleprotection equipment will be used: the first one is E-terragridcom DIP used in
analog or digital mode. The second one is the E-terragridcom TPI, teleprotection module
integrated in the Power Line Carrier. That second type of teleprotection has been introduced in
order to have 2 teleprotections equipment on the same PLC equipment.
Technical schedule, brochure and type test report are included in appendix.
2. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS
On the link Chibata – Dondo, we are now proposing 2 PLC each fitted with one TPi. In initial
offer, two PLC and 2 DIP were supplied in Chibata. One PLC (Release 5) and one DIP will be
relocated in Beira. One PLC (Release 5) and one DIP will be relocated in Dondo. The aim is to
have on the single PLC link Dondo – Beira, one DIP and one TPi link.
We provide also Two PLC link between Mavuzi & Lamego in order to maintain same number of
communication channels than originally approved and in particular two teleprotection links and
four tie lines. This is due to the fact than PLC in release 6 cannot accommodate four speech
channels.
Paragraphs 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.6 have been updated. Changes are highlighted in yellow.

PROJECT: ELECTRICITY IV ALSTOM GRID
4.1. Overview
The network of Electricity IV Project will interconnect the following seven substations:
These substations will be linked through an optical telecommunication network (from Chibata to
Dondo) along with Power Line Carrier (PLC) equipments.
The next paragraph describes the teleprotection equipment configuration used in the project.
This selected architecture will allow the equipment to adapt to the various transmission media
used, either through the optical network or the analogue one.
4.2. Configuration
4.2.1. Digital DIP Configuration
The DIP equipment, used in digital mode, will have the following configuration:
Number of command channels (2 contacts per command for input & output): 4
(electrical E1 interface),
Command inputs: contact up for 24 to 250Vdc acquisition voltage: SR200 board,
Digital transmission through SDH/PDH equipment using E1 interface (G703.6; 2
Mbps): IR173_120 daughter board of the CPU board.
Single power supply 48 Vdc nominal input: AL137 board.
ME50 Ethernet Board daughter board of the CPU board.
The DIP equipment, used in analogue mode, will have the following configuration:
Number of command channels: 4; 2 contacts per command for input and output
Analogue transmission through PLC using 4Wires :IR183 daughter board in CPU
board (UT148D): 4 Wires analogue interface card,
Single tone mode,
Single power supply 48 Vdc nominal input: AL137 board.
ME50 Ethernet Board daughter board of the CPU board.
The above configuration will be applied for the following links:
The Integrated TPI, used in analogue mode, will have the following configuration:
Number of command channels: 4.
Analogue transmission through PLC using 4Wires,
Single communication interface,
TPI in QAM.
The above configuration will be applied for the following links:
The following table describes for each link the used configuration:
4.4. Supervision
Digital DIP can supervise and control the remote side through the digital connection. The
local digital DIP is directly connected using the ME50 Ethernet board; it is then connected
to the management E-terrasentinel server either directly or through Ethernet cards
supplied in the e-DXC equipment.
The analog teleprotection links have no possibility to supervise remote ends. Therefore, for
analog teleprotection equipment co-located with e-DXC, supervision will be through
Ethernet board of e-DXC. Management information will be sent to E-terrasentinel through
e-DXC network.
For analog teleprotection equipment located in Beira and Mavuzi, ME50 board will be
connected to Lan interface of PRCS of PLC Micom T390. In that way, management
information will be transmitted through PLC LAN to LAN and then transmitted to E-
terrasentinnel server through e-DXC network.
