Content Standard Addressed: MGSE1.OA.3 Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and
subtract.5
Examples: If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2
+ 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property
of addition.)

Technology Standard Addressed: Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving
and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences. Students:

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This will help all students because each student will need to deeply
understand the math content in order to do this assignment. They will need to be able to explain and argue
why they believe their peers answers are correct.

Lesson idea implementation:
First the students will have pre-knowledge because I would have shown the students how to create a power
point presentation using different tools over the course of the first couple weeks. Then, in this project I will
have the students create their own power point presentation using different tools in the power point
presentation on different math facts. The project will be a continuation of how they know and understand
addition and the communitive property. This project should take up to about 2 weeks to complete and the
students will be put in partners. The students will be allowed to create their own math facts and put them on
the screen with different visual images and auditory additions. The students will create their own math
problems and have their peers in the classroom answer their questions on their power point that they have
created. The students teaching will act as the teacher and the students in the audience will need to raise their
hand to share their answers. This will make the students teaching and in the audience to be able to

understand and justify what they believe in their answers to be right. This will also help the students teaching
to take more of an ownership of the material. I will allow the students to conclude the lesson however they
see fit. I will grade and give feedback on the students based on the level of knowledge and work they put into
their project. I will be grading based on the level of work and effort they put into it.


Reflective Practice:
This will impact student learning because I am making them take ownership of their own learning and I am
allowing them to be the ones that determine what they teach and are being taught by allowing them to
create and express their own ideas and plans with their power point.
