New technology „Measuring SF6 Gas Quality“

„All in one“ measuring device with integrated gas return system

www.dilo-gmbh.com
Control of SF6 quality

Why are measurements necessary?

 SF6 gas quality must be controlled acc. to EC regulation 842/2006 on fluorinated

greenhouse gases and the provisions regarding the use of chemicals with
respect to climate protection.
 Before the circuit breaker is serviced, gas quality must be known.
 Measuring concentration of decomposition products reflects operational history of
the circuit breaker, e.g. electrical discharges.
 For decision on recycling, re-use or disposal of SF6 the quality must be
determined.

Measuring major parameters

 SF6 gas must always exhibit the proper quality.

 Humid or toxic and corrosive decomposition
products in the switchgear may severely impair
insulation strength of the gas.

Major quality criteria of SF6 gas in the circuit

breaker:
 Purity (percentage)
 Moisture
 Decomposition products

SF6 Multi-Analyser with gas return
system

Up to six measurements in one operation:

 SF6 concentration (%)
 Moisture concentration
 SO2 concentration (ppmv)
 Options:
 HF concentration (ppmv) / four-in-one device
 HF, H2S and CO concentration (ppmv) /
six-in-one device

Gas return system:

 Collection and storage of the measuring gas in
an internal vessel
 After measurement, the stored measuring gas is
pumped back automatically into the gas
compartment.

Starting the measurement

Select hose length (6 m or 12 m) -

important for purging time of hose.

After completion of the necessary settings,

the measurement can be started by
pressing the “Start/Stop“ key.

After connection of the measuring device

to the gas compartment the current
pressure is indicated.
