STATEMENT OF CLARIFICATION BY OFFICER EDWARD NERO

Since my acquittal of any wrong doing in the death of Freddie Gray, I have been
working hard to rebuild my life and career. I never thought that this would be part
of a political campaign in Harford County, where I call home. I do not endorse
any candidate in the election of Harford County State’s Attorney but I do feel it
necessary to clarify the record about who prosecuted the case against me and five
other officers.

Recently a social media video was posted and a mailer was sent to the citizens of
Harford County stating that Marilyn Mosby and Albert Peisinger prosecuted 6
innocent officers, including me. I feel it necessary to clarify that Albert Peisinger
did not prosecute me or any of the other officers. It is my understanding that he
was involved very early on and helped investigate, not prosecute any possible
wrong doing.

I, like every other Harford County resident, want the best candidate for State’s
Attorney in office. I do not know either of the candidates that are running
personally but have spoken to them in the past. I felt that it was necessary that if
my picture is going around to the residents of this great county that they know the
limited role Mr. Peisinger had in our cases.
