From the current session 2018-19 SEMESTER-WISE Three Year


B.A./ B. Sc.(Honours /General) courses of studies under Choice
Based Credit System(CBCS} has been introduced. This semester-
wise CBCS system in Commerce stream is already in vogue from
the last year.

A. Applicants are hereby advised not to be duped by anybody in


regard to admission. They are advised not to pay any amount to
anybody, except as directed on the college admission website.
Applicants are asked not to come to the College for any
admission-related enquiry. All information will be available in the
College website.
B. Admission, taken on the basis of false statement or misstatement,
found at any point of time throughout the session, shall be
summarily cancelled.
C. Dates and Time of admission must be strictly followed. No special
extension of date and time will be granted to anyone at any
circumstances.

D. Applicants are advised to get their mark sheet of HS or equivalent
examination, certificates for SC / ST / OBC / Physical Disability /
Proficiency in Sports scanned. These will be required to be uploaded
along with photo and signature of the candidate.
E. Applicants should have their own e-mail id and mobile number which
will be required at the time of their admission and also during their
studies in this College.
F. No candidate will be admitted in any Honours course and Science
stream who have passed from West Bengal State Council of Technical
and Vocational Education and Skill Development (CSR 21/16 Dated.
25.01.2017).

The word 'Subject' or 'related subject' for B. Com Honours shall mean: Accountancy/

Outstanding Sports Person means a Person who has represented the State or Nation in the National or
International level sports in one or more of the events specified bellow within preceding three years, i.e. not

If selected for admission, such Sports persons must produce Certificate (s) in Original from
appropriate authority, which will be adequately verified from such authority before admitting
those sports persons. If at the time of verification, any of those certificates are found to be
false, admission shall be cancelled and complaint will be lodged in the appropriate forum.

For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall
be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in HS or equivalent examinations, in order of
marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall
not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject “Environmental
Science” is studied as an elective subject of 1003marks, may be taken into account for the purpose of
determining the aggregate marks.

(4) As per order no. BC/16014/82-SC & BCD-1, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of a
particular State will be entitled to concessions/benefits admissible to the Scheduled Castes/
Tribes from her/his State of origin only. Therefore, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of
West Bengal State only are entitled to relaxation in eligibility criteria regarding admission and
reservation of seats. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes from States other than West
Bengal are not entitled to such benefits/concessions.

B.Com. (Honours and General) Courses of Studies conducted by the

Admission Qualifications:
A candidate who has passed the higher secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination is
eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the 3-year B.A/ B.Sc./ B.Com (Honours &
General) Course of Studies provided he/she has also passed in English having full
marks not being less than 100.

However, no candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 5
years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination of recognized
regular course of study (Year of Passing must not be before 2013).
Explanation: The year of Admission shall not be taken into account while
calculating Five years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.

Migration: Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its
equivalent from the All India Boards/Councils (i.e. CBSE, ISC and National Institute of
Open Schooling) need not require to submit Migration Certificate for getting
Registration under the University.

College Offers the Following Generic Elective(GE) Paper
Combinations for B.A./B.Sc.(Honours)

The college shall offer differentGeneric Elective papers depending on


availability of infrastructure and resources.
A student can choose any two papers from the following 3 groups barring the
papers she/he has chosen for honours. She/he cannot choose two papers from
the same group. Mathematics is compulsory Generic Elective Paper for
Economics honours. Students of Economics honours has to choose another
GE paper from Group 1 or Group 3.

Seats are limited in Geography as Generic Elective (GE) Paper. Those who
opt for Geography as GE need to select a second option. One cannot opt for
Geography (GE) without having Geography as a subject in Higher
Secondary or Equivalent Level.

Reservation of Seats:
Seat reservation in the first year class of three-year degree courses of studies shall be
guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in
Admission), Act, 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions
(Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014.

The sons and daughters of employees of Heramba Chandra College shall be allowed to
take admission in B.Com(General) on a preferential basis.

If adequate number of Scheduled Tribe candidates is not available, remaining seats shall
be made available to Scheduled Caste candidates first. If adequate number of
Scheduled Caste Candidates is not available, remaining seats shall be made available to
Scheduled Tribe candidates first. If adequate number of Scheduled caste and Scheduled
Tribe candidates is not available, even after that, the seats may be made available to
General Category Candidates provided approval are available from Appropriate
Government Department.

Note:5
As per notification no. o7/Edn(U)/ IU- 89/13 dated 2.1.2014, while admitting OBC
students against reserved quota a 10% reduction in marks in relation to students
admitted against General quota will be considered. Students desirous of getting
admission against OBC quota must mention that he or she belongs to OBC while filling
in the online application form. In case the OBC applicants fail to submit, at the time of
admission, certificates from competent authority, they have to submit a domicile
certificate.
OBC of a particular State will be entitled to concessions/benefits admissible to the
OBC from her/his State of origin only. Therefore, OBC of West Bengal State only are
entitled to relaxation in eligibility criteria regarding admission and reservation of seats.
OBC from States other than West Bengal are not entitled to such benefits/concessions.
They will be treated at per with the General Category students.

An applicant will be eligible to apply against PH quota if he or she suffers from not less
than 40% of the relevant disability [ (a) Blindness or Low Vision, (b) Hearing Impairment,
(c) Loco motor Disability or Cerebral palsy]. He or she will have to submit, at the time of
admission, a disability certificate issued by a competent authority (Medical Board duly
constituted by the Central or State Government).

Applicants are asked to note that, if one gets listed on a list on the basis of
overstatement of marks, he or she will never be admitted. On the other hand, if
someone does not get listed because of understatement of marks, he or she will
not be considered for admission until his or her name turns up on the basis of his
or her disclosed marks on the application form.
