And he dedicates himself, at great risk, to writing a book that presents the lives of black women working for white families in his hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. Aibileen: At the beginning of Maids and Ladies in August 1962, Aibileen, narrator of eleven chapters of Criadas y señoras is 53 years old. She is a black woman who has taken care of "babies of white families" and "cooking and cleaning" for white families since she was a teenager. Minny: is one of the black women who make life so nice and comfortable to their white employers. It is a complex mixture of extreme strength and vulnerability. When Aibileen is with Minny taking the bus to the neighborhood where they live, Aibileen thinks, "Surely I could lift this bus over her head if she wanted to." An old woman like me is lucky to have her as a friend. Hilly: is the vilest villain of the novel. She is married to William Holbrook and has two children, Heather and William Jr. According to Aibileen, one of her few positive attributes is the love and kindness she shows to her two children. Hilly is one of the few characters who analyze in depth the three narrators of Maids and Ladies: Aibileen, Minny and Skeeter. Setting- write a description of where the story takes place
