HPF AOUCES COFERECE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIETS

PITTSBURGH, PA, SEPTEMBER 27, 2010—The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF)
has announced Lores Vlaminck R, BS, MA, CHP® and Paula Forest, MS, OC, CHP®,
GP-BC, ARP are the recipients of a 2010 HPNF Conference Scholarship. Each recipient was
selected by the HPNF Scholarship Review Committee and received a $230 award for the reimbursement
of registration fees associated with attending the 2010 Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association
(HPNA) Clinical Practice Forum in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

• Lores Vlaminck R, BS, MA, CHP® is currently a Principal Independent Consultant for
Lores Consulting in Rochester, Minnesota. With over 23 years of hospice and palliative nursing
experience, Ms. Vlaminck provides education and teaching for staff regarding hospice care,
financial responsibility, contract management, and agency development. She attended her first
HPNA Clinical Practice Forum in 2010.
• Paula Forest, MS, OC, CHP®, GP-BC, ARP is a Palliative Care Consultant with The
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Ms. Forest has worked in nursing
for 36 years, 8 of which have been focused in palliative care. She has a special interest in
vulnerable populations of geriatric prisoners and adults with physical and cognitive challenges.
Ms. Forest also attended her first HPNA Clinical Practice Forum this year.

“Congratulations to our 2010 Conference Scholarship recipients,” said Judy Lentz, R, MS, HA,
Executive Director of HPF. “It is truly an honor for HPNF to provide this interactive educational
opportunity to such deserving candidates.”

The Conference Scholarship Program was established by HPNF in 2008 to provide financial assistance
for nurses attending HPNA-sponsored conferences, such as the Clinical Practice Forum and the
AAHPM/HPNA Annual Assembly. These scholarships support nurses who wish to augment their
professional development and leadership skills in hospice and palliative care.
