Lesson Plan
 STAGE & ACTIVITY
0-8 Grammar Introduction
Go over the sample sentence from the previous
lesson and go over meaning, form, pronunciation
and usage. Conduct further analysis of other four
sentences from the previous lesson to go over use
of different modal verbs, changing of clause
positions and the question form
9-15 Check Understanding
Students will be shown three different scenarios.
All scenarios are crime related and there is an
action and its consequences. In a controlled
setting, the students will be shown how to
formulate the third conditional. Learning is
scaffolded so that in each stage, their tasks get a
little more difficult.
16~25 Gap Fill Activity
After being led through highlight controlled
exercise in a group, the learners will do another
controlled exercise where they have to fill in gaps
to complete third conditionals. Once it is complete,
they will check their answers with each other and
then there will be a brief feedback, which I suspect
shouldn’t take too long.
26~30 Introduction of the communicative activity
1. Go over some key events which may have
happened in their life at some point
2. Go over the some of my own key events in
my life
3. Explain how these events can be used to
formulate my own third conditional
sentences
31~35
Students preparation
Students complete their own charts and write up
two or three conditional sentences
36~43 Communicative activity
Students talk to each other discussing each
other’s sentences. They have to ask follow up
questions to find out more information about each
other.

Feedback session to end the lesson
