Panelists

○ Han Fennema, CEO & Chairman, N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie

○ Octávio Simões, President, Sempra LNG & Midstream

○ Melanie Kenderdine, Principal, Energy Futures Initiative

This “Forecasting the Future” session will explore three alternative scenarios, based on a
range of possible energy and environmental policies; national and geopolitical tensions;
possible black swan events; and ‘game changer’ technological breakthroughs, or other
variables which may influence what the energy reality may look like in the decades to
come.

The proposed scenarios for the future of gas which will be discussed and debated are:

1. Gas in a golden age

2. The orderly transition

3. Gas in a niche role

The likelihood of each scenario will be considered by asking:

○ Which key drivers would allow each scenario to become a reality?

○ What are the technical, policy and economic requirements that will drive each
scenario?

○ Which national and international policies will have the greatest role in determining
the future of gas use? What role will multilateral organisations play?

○ What technological advancements would be required for each scenario to prosper?

○ How will the development of renewable fuels affect gas use going forward?

○ What geopolitical tensions could impact or arise from each scenario?

○ Will measures to meet climate targets increase or reduce the use of gas globally?

○ What action can the industry take to prepare for an unknown future?

Voluntary mechanisms in the oil and gas industry play an important role in providing the
tools and support necessary to implement successful, transparent methane management
programs, whether at the company level or at a national level. This panel discussion will
focus on how current partners are taking full advantage of their widely recognized voluntary
programs, specifically the Global Methane Initiative, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition’s Oil

DIGITIZATION AND BIG DATA TRANSFORMING THE E&P LIFECYCLE

NETWORKING
Speakers EXHIBITION SPONSORSHIP

REGISTER & PLAN NEWS & MEDIA CONTACT

Oil and gas companies are now entering the era of digital business. The impact of the
Internet of Things (IoT) will create new dimensions of data (and big data). The blurring line
between physical and digital, along with rapid adoption of IoT, shifts businesses into new
paradigms. Oil and gas companies need to reinvent themselves in preparation for the next
era of autonomous business driven big data, algorithms and artificial intelligence. In this
light, this session will share case studies on how digitalization creates value, reduces cost
and improves efficiency throughout the E&P gas lifecycle. The case studies will also
discuss associated challenges and changes to operating models, bridging physical and
digital divide amid the widening gap between those that can exploit these technologies vs.
those that cannot and how it will affect the workforce.

HR OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN A DIGITAL WORLD

Speakers

We are entering a digital world where new technologies, IT, virtual tools, are changing the
way we work, the way we manage and the way we recruit. This digital transformation
poses two fundamental HR challenges. First, HR mangers must help leaders and
employees in their daily work to master their digital approach. Secondly, new technologies
are an opportunity for HR managers to optimize their process in order to attract, develop
and retain talent. This session will explore these two directions and analyze the
specificities of the gas industry regarding these new approaches.

GAS TO POWER

Speakers

For many industrial plants in the world, access to cheap and reliable electricity remains a
key element of their development and profitability. This need often involves the
development of large production units (CCGT) in order to supply a territory or an industrial
zone, or by implementing a more decentralized solution such as co generation or tri-
generation systems. New considerations are now arising in relation to climate change
(CO2 reduction, coupling with possible heating or cooling networks and renewables). Due
to the technical solutions offered with natural gas and its lower CO2 content, it is the most
appropriate energy to meet these industrial needs. The objective of this session is to
promote natural gas solutions in this context and demonstrate their economic and
environmental interest.

Since the first commercial LNG cargo 50 years ago, many of the facilities have aged
and/or are being faced with significant changes in supply/demand. This has triggered a
wave of plant reconfigurations happening today. This session will present real life projects
in existing LNG assets where functionality is enhanced or changed, addressing business
drivers, business models and key success factors.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE IN GAS DISTRIBUTION

Speakers

Distribution System Operators (DSO) typically rely on a range of standards in order to

embed good practice within their businesses. A mix of methodologies like Six Sigma, Lean
and Agile is available to increase efficiency and improve the outcome of processes like
design, build and operate. This session will offer the opportunity to learn from the
experiences of your colleagues.

include:

 Integrity and risk management

 Underground locating/marking of facilities

 Third-party damage mitigation

 Adapting social media tools to gas operations

 Knowledge transfer and training

FLOATING LNG CONCEPTS: TECHNICAL CHALLENGES

This session will provide specific insights about technical aspects/issues for making the
FLNG projects feasible from a technical stand point, including success/non-success
histories for FLNG developments and current projects.

PIPELINE INTEGRITY DETECTION AND ANALYTIC METHODS

Environmental and societal impact of gas transporting systems and their operations, as
well as safety of operation, are the key factors for public acceptance of gas facilities.
Excellent environmental and safety performance streamlines the way to authorization of
constructions and may have a principal impact on an economy of installations and
operations. Accordingly, sophisticated detection and analytical methods are integral tools
for responsible management and operation of gas networks.

VIABILITY OF CORPORATE SOCIAL INITIATIVE (CSI) TO MANAGE RISK

Corporate social initiative (CSI) is typically seen as efforts by companies to establish

relationships with their stakeholders in areas of their operations. Much has been said on
the potential of CSI to manage risks, which means that initiatives can be tailored to a
project based on the risks identified and ensure sustainability of the initiatives. This
session aims to share case studies by those who have used CSI to further improve their
management of risks and ask what are the lessons learned.
