✹ The outer square needs to be the
same size as your coaster, this is
just for your reference; the outer
square is not part of the pattern.
✹ Place a piece of plain parchment on
the pattern and trace the outline
with white pencil or mapping pen
and ink if you prefer.
✹ Emboss and then perforate all of the
lines with your Two Needle tool and
then carefully cut the perforations
with your parchment scissors.
✹ If placing in a coaster, cut a square
of blue parchment to use for the
backing piece, if you’re using as a
topper, stitch to your card blanks.

You Will Need

✹ Invisible thread or four brads
✹ Blue card

Trace
✹ With a white pencil, trace the
oblong frame around the outside
of the design and the oval frame
around the picture.
✹ Use white ink to trace the greeting
and trace everything else with a fine
black drawing pen.

Perforate (shallow)
✹ Perforate the border with your
Moon perforating tool.
✹ Turn the parchment to work on
the reverse.

Emboss
✹ With your Extra Small Ball tool,
emboss the oblong and oval
frames and inside the Moon tool
perforations.
✹ Still with the same tool or Stylus,
emboss highlights in the hair and
also the headband.
✹ With larger tools, very lightly
emboss the flower, leaves, wings and
garments of the fairy.

✹ Add a drop of Tinta white ink to
a pallet. Pick it up from the pallet
with your brush and with circular
movements paint into the two dots
of colour until they merge across
the petal and then lift.
✹ Do not drag the colour down the
sides of the petal.
✹ Continue to do paint each petal,

✹ For the flower centres use a yellow
felt tip in the centre.
✹ Add contrast to the centre with
alternating black and white dots.

It evokes memories
of childhood when
little girls made daisy

Trace

pattern, on the front of the sheet,
scribble over with felt tip pen

a damp brush, paint the daisy
centres yellow. Use orange over
the lower areas.

green, paint a second layer of green
over one side of the leaves.
✹ Using deep pink, paint a light layer
of pink on the tips of some of the
daisies, extend the colour part way
down the sides of the petals.
✹ When dry remove the work from
the pattern and using blendable
pencil on the back, colour and
blend the outer border area.

Emboss
All the embossing is done from the
back of the work.
✹ On the reverse of the sheet, use a
Medium Ball tool to lightly emboss
the petals, working from the tip
towards the flower centre.
✹ Re-emboss using a Small Ball tool
and a little more pressure on the
tips. Leave a narrow gap in the
centre of each petal to form the
vein. Leave to rest.
✹ Stipple the flower centres with
your One Needle tool.
✹ Lightly emboss the stems and
leaves.
✹ Emboss the inner border to form

✹ Attach to Multi Grid No. 4 or
any other Fine Straight Grid and
perforate as shown in the grid
patterns in the areas between the
small and large heart shapes.

Emboss
✹ Use a ruler and your Extra Small
Ball tool to emboss the three outer
edges and the fold line.
✹ Emboss the unperforated ‘column’
areas within the Grid Work,
the heart shapes and the outer
sections of the Semi Square tool
perforations.
✹ Using the same size tool that was
used for the dip dots, carefully
emboss them.
✹ If needed use a Small Ball tool to
emboss the edges of the dots to
ensure they are a good shape.

Perforate (deep)
✹ Using a thick mat beneath the
work, re-perforate all previously
made perforations.

Cut
✹ Use snips or scissors to cut the
areas within the grid work and
the central triangle shape within
the Semi-Square tool shapes.
✹ Cut around the outer edge.

Finishing
✹ Fold the card and add an insert in
a colour of your choice, add a small
bow if you desire.

Trace
✹ Once you have attached your
parchment to the pattern, use a
yellow and sepia mix to trace all of
the flesh.
✹ Use a black fine ink liner pen to
trace the hair, trainers, trousers,
bench, weights and greeting.
✹ Trace the vest, border and dashed
lines with a white pencil.

Colour
✹ Working with polychromos pencils
use medium flesh plus a touch of
brown ochre for the skin.

on the trainers with cobalt blue.

Paint
✹ Use black pintura paint and your
Small Ball tool to dip dot the oval
ring and to fill in the weights.
✹ Silver paint for the bench legs and
weight bar.

Emboss
✹ Emboss the card border, weights and
bench legs with a Small Ball tool.

Perforate
✹ Use your One Needle tool and Grid
to perforate every hole on his vest.
✹ Perforate around the border of the
card with your Four Needle tool.

Finishing
✹ Carefully cut out the perforations
and then attach to a coloured
piece of card, securing with a cord
or ribbon.
