The attached Work Method Statement shall include the following :

6.1 Flow Chart (please refer Attachment B)

6.2 Objective
The objective of this work method statement is to lay the wall and floor
tiling finishes according to the specification / construction drawing.

6.3 Delivery, storage, handling and protection of materials at site.

6.3.1 All floor and wall tiles should be transported to site by means
of lorry and unloaded and appropriately using mobile crane
and/ or others alternative with care handling to prevent
damages to the tiles. Before the acceptance, delivered tiles
must be properly checked to prevent any wrong delivery,
quality (color, shade & size) and to ensure the condition of tiles
are intact. Miss out or damages to the tiles if any, shall be
recorded properly on the D.O. and/ or checklist, then
notification shall be made to the supplier before unloading. All
tiles shall be placed in a proper stockyard allocated within site
and no stacking are allowed.

6.4 Pre-installation requirements:

6.4.1 Propose and/or submit the samples and brochure of tiles,

adhesive cement, grout filler and others related materials as
per details described in drawing and/or BQ and/ or equivalent
to S.O for approval before placing buck order from the supplier.

6.4.2 Identify the expansion/ movement joint location and prepare

dry lay on site for S.O approval.

6.4.3 Upon approval by S.O, mock-up shall be carry out at designated

area by the S.O to comments and final approval.

6.4.4 Preparation of Pre- Installation:

a. Protect the working area from rain and direct sunshine

during the installation. Erect tentage and maintain
temporary drainage system. Allow installation to cure
properly in dry environment.

b. Ensure all concealed items (Cold water piping, concealed

fitting, electrical concealed conduit, switch and power point
and etc.), waterproofing (ponding test) works at respective
location have been correctly done and approved by S.O
before screeding and plastering take place. All outlet if any,
shall securely plugged to avoid clogged.

c. Ensure the surfaces of substrates (floor and wall) are in

level, flat, clean and free from dust and other impurities
which may affect adhesion between substrates and cement/
sand base screed. Note that, the screed and plaster shall
be cure for minimum 7 days and the finished surface shall
be semi- smooth finish with wood float. Note that, the mix
ratio of base screed OPC & course sand shall be 1:3 which
comply to BS EN 13139.

d. Setup dry lay of the tiles by setting 2-way symmetry

references and/or level line and lay the tiles start from
center pinpoint working toward the wall adjust the gap (shall
be consistent and within the tolerance) of tiles to the wall to
minimize the need of tiles cutting and/ or prevent thin
slivers.

e. Once the layout confirmed by S.O, quantity of materials

used for the works shall be estimated. For those tiles
cutting needed, mark the measured cut-to-be on tiles
surfaces and use tile cutter or others suitable tools to
achieve diagonal and appropriate cuts. (edge tiles, floor
trap, skirting, chamfer, tap and etc.)

6.5 Execution of work

6.5.1 Swimming Pool Lampang Tiles Installation

Products: KERABOND T + ISOLASTIC 50: Two component, high

performance cementitious adhesive for ceramic tiles, glass
mosaics and stone material.

a) Mix KERABOND T + ISOLASTIC 50 in the following ratio

with a low-speed mechanical mixer until a uniform paste is
obtained without lumps. Leave the paste to slake for few
minutes and remix before use.

Mix Ratio KERABOND T ISOLASTIC 50

Proportion by weight 25 KG 8.5 KG

b) Use the flat side of a notched trowel to spread a thin-coat of the

mix onto the back of the granite slabs. Immediately after, use
the flat side of the notched trowel to spread a skim-coat of the
mix to the receiving surface so as to cover it completely.
Spreads of adhesive should be strictly controlled to areas that
can be completely laid within the open time of the adhesive (30
minutes and depending temperature and humidity). Follow by
using the notched side of the trowel to apply the required
amount of the adhesive on top of the skim coat.

c) Before laying the granite, ensure that skinning has not formed
on the surface of the adhesive. Should a skin have formed, the
adhesive must be re-notched and/or re-trowelled. Then lay the

tile onto the adhesive with firm pressure and adjust within the
open time (30 minutes).

d) Protect the finished surface and let the adhesive set for at least
24 hours before grouting the tile joints.
e) Surfaces are ready for use after 14 days .Basins and swimming
pools can be filled after 21 days.

6.5.2 Joint Grouting

Products KERAPOXY: A two-component epoxy-resin-based product with

: silica sand and special components, with excellent resistance to
acids. A chemical resistant epoxy grout under class RG2 in
compliance with EN 13888.
S
a) Pour all the hardener, Part B, into a bucket containing Part
A and mix well with a low speed electric stirrer until a
smooth paste is obtained. Avoid over-mixing and over-
heating of the mixture, which could reduce working time.
Use the paste within 30 minutes from mixing.

b) Mix grout in its pre-measured mix proportions.

Mix Ratio PART A PART B

Proportion by weight 4.5kg 0.5 kg

c) Spread KERAPOXY with the appropriate MAPEI rubber

trowel, making sure the joints are completely filled.
Remove excess grout from surface with the edge of the
same rubber trowel.

d) After grouting with KERAPOXY, cleaning must be carried

out immediately before the product dries.

e) Wet the surface with clean water and emulsify with a

Scotch-Brite pad, making sure not to rake out the epoxy
grout mortar from the joints.

f) The excess liquid can be removed with a hard cellulose

sponge and should be replaced when it is too full of the
epoxy resin in the cleaning process.

g) Continue the cleaning process with clean water.

h) It is very important that once the finishing process has

ended, no traces of Kerapoxy should be left on the tile
surface because it will be very difficult to remove. It is
therefore necessary to frequently rinse the sponge with
clean water during the clean process.

with notched trowel as 6mm X 6mm bedding of about 10mm-
15mm thick subject to manufacturer’s recommendations as
follow:-
i. Do not apply more than 1m² at a time.
ii. Ensure there are no voids under the tiles.

d) Place tile piece by piece onto bedding adhesive firmly with

slight twisting motion. Once in position, tapped uniformly to
achieve good surface contact and ensure no hollowness. Place
PVC spacer in between the tile for alignment and gaps
consistency which normally about 1mm - 4mm (subject to tiles
manufacturer’s recommendations / S.O. approval).

e) Continue laying tile to pattern as per approved layout details

and spirit level should be used constantly to check the
verticality, evenness and flatness of tiled surfaces until tiling
works complete. Ensure the PVC grooveline, stainless steel
angle installed at the designated location.

f) Remove excessive mixed adhesive with damp cloth when it’s

still fresh and keep completed tiling works for about 24 hours
out from running water or rain water before joint gaps grouting
works shall be carry out. The wall tiles grout filler shall be as
per A.I. (Mapei) or equivalent. (subject to S.O. approval)
