A. Preliminary Activities

B. Review/ Motivation
The teacher will relate the previous activity to their current topic to be discussed. Also, the teacher will
share his/her own thoughts on the questions thrown to the students: the purpose of units and measurements, how
it was established, and its application to real life.
2. Discussion:
The teacher will discuss the following concepts:
NOTE: For this session, the teacher will only introduce the SI units, its application and proper usage
and will be compared to the US Customary Units. The conversion of units and measurements
will take place next meeting.
Physical Quantities
- a quantifiable or assignable property ascribed to a particular phenomenon, body, or
substance. (i.e. length, electric charge, time)
Units of Measure
- a particular physical quantity with which other quantities of the same kind are
compared in order to express their value.
- SI Unit (Systeme International) or the International System of Units (History)
- 7 Fundamental Units
- US Customary Units (USCU)
Series of units will be flashed on the screen and the students are tasked to identify what quantity does it
represents,
Right after, students are to share their thoughts on what is the difference between accurate and precise.
