CHALLENGES OVERVIEW

Design and execute a single-trip A major operator in Egypt planned to drill a 5,045 ft (1,538 m) deepwater development
system in order to perform a campaign and needed a cost-efficient solution to perform a negative test and wellbore

Halliburton was challenged to design and execute a single-trip system in order to perform a
negative differential pressure test at 1,500 psi. The job also required a subsequent

NGLE-TRIP
RESULT

SI Halliburton proposed this single-trip solution, as it would yield significant savings to the operator.
Based on data from the job, approximately 12 hours of operational rig time savings were realized,
valued at an estimated USD 750,000. This was attributed to running the Inflow Tech test packer
and other wellbore cleanup tools in the same displacement run. In addition, the operator was able
to save on the cost of the deepwater drillship at an estimated day rate of USD 1.2 million, plus
additional service company costs.
NEGATIVE TEST, CLEANUP, AND DISPLACEMENT RUN

Halliburton successfully performed the required cleanout and displacement to brine operations
without any safety or environmental incidents. The bottomhole assembly (BHA) allowed the casing
and liner sections to be scraped and cleaned of all mud residue and the Mag Tech® magnet was
utilized to recover any ferrous materials from the wellbore.
The Vali Tech® and Vor Tech® tools provided the capability to capture debris that could not be
hydraulically circulated to surface as debris is dislodged from the cavities during the blowout
preventer (BOP) jetting operation. The combined result of debris recovery from the well was over
97 lb (43.95 kg).
The major outcome of this first successful single-trip negative test and wellbore cleanup is that the
operator realized the value of our CleanWell systems and the job was performed without any NPT.
The operator has recommended the Inflow Tech test packer and other cleanup tools for its upcoming
wells in one of the largest gas fields in the Mediterranean.
