Portfolio Day 2017 Schedule

8:30am – 1:30pm

8:30am/8:45am: Students Arrive. Sarah and Aunna will meet students at the bus. Hand out
maps and welcome!

Students
20 Adobe Photoshop Techniques – Patrick Navin, GR Photography Instructor (SH273)

This demonstration will cover digital photography editing techniques with Adobe Photoshop. Topics
to be discussed and demonstrated include color settings, levels and curves, layer adjustments,
menus, tool palettes, burning and dodging techniques, filters, special creative effects, storage and a
printing overview. Students will participate in critique.

20 Video Presentation – Cindy Small, GR Drawing Instructor (SH370)

Join the 3-dimensional design class in watching the film about environmental sculptor, Andy
Goldsworthy, River and Tides. The 3D design students are currently working on a group project that’s
based on Art & Nature.

Green River Art Students are leading an exquisite corpse Eduardo Lopez, Sarah Dillon
drawing installation activity. Use markers and pens to create Gilmartin
random images that make unusual connections to the
drawings placed around it. We will also share our portfolios
with each other! Green River Student artists present
their work in the Helen Smith Gallery

SESSION 2 – Part 1
11am – 12:10pm: Interviews (Group A) Split between Drawing Studio and Photography Classroom.
Education will be in SH370, Artists and Professionals will be in SH270. (Paul, Cindy, Patrick, Gary,
Sarah, Gabi and Aunna are conducting interviews.)

11am – 12:10pm: Activities (Group B/Art Students)

Green River Art Students are leading an exquisite corpse drawing installation activity. Use
markers and pens to create random images that make unusual connections to the drawings
placed around it. We will also share our portfolios with each other!

11- 11:30am Darkroom Tour - Aaron Hartzell, Green River's Instructional Tech for Photography
(SH270)

Aaron will give a tour and demonstration of our traditional analog darkroom to include
an overview of the process of film photography. Aaron will demonstrate an alternative
technique or two, as he shows you around our darkroom area.

11- 11:30am Wheel Demonstration – Heather Cornelius, Instructional Tech for Ceramics (SH 170)

Heather will conduct a throwing demonstration and tour of the ceramics area. Activity will be
held outside if weather permits.

11- 11:30am Portfolio Peer Review – Facilitated by Green River Art Students (SH2 Conference
Room)
Volunteers: Kent Miller and Megan Kickner

Come and see what your peers have been working on this year! Green River art students will
facilitate a casual critique, and will participate in the review with their own work.
SESSION 2 – Part 2

Guest Speaker: Stephanie Lorrig, Artist, Designer and Art with Heart Founder will discuss Book
Design/Publication, Art with Heart and Art for the Public Good (SH 110 with Espial class)
Volunteers: Espial Students and Gretchen Immel
