Dear Sirs,

Information on
New PCB connector and New Casters of SSD-5500

From the following serial number, connectors of PCBs (Printed Circuit Board) in the unit and
the casters will change. However, software version (Ver. 5.1) and the performance of the
system remain unchanged.

M02220 and higher

With this change, some optional units will also change to cope with the change of the
connector of PCBs.
Detailed explanation follows.

1. New PCB connectors

1.1 SSD-5500 main unit

To reinforce connection of PCBs, we have taken a drastic measure. The connectors of

some PCBs have been changed to new ones. For the picture of the new connector,
please refer to the attached papers. Not only the connectors of the PCBs but also the
sockets inside the unit will change to accept the PCBs with new connectors.

We believe this alteration will increase reliability of our products further.

The change of the PCB connectors causes no change in performance.

2.2 Optional units

Please note that the following optional units have been altered to adapt to the new PCB
connectors of the main unit. Please use the new model numbers when you order the new
optional units. Please put suffix “Q” to the last of the former model number.

Example) Former model number: EU-9078

New model number: EU-9078Q

NOTE: The former and new optional units have no interchangeability.

The former optional units can be installed only to the former SSD-5500 main units.
The new optional units can be installed only to the new SSD-5500 main units.

2. The model numbers of PCBs with new connectors differ from the former ones on the
following point.

If the former model number is EP XXXX 00 AA, (The 00 might be 01, 02, or higher.)

The new model number is EP XXXX 50 AA. (The 50 might be 51, 52, or higher.)

2. Casters

Because of terminated production of the former casters, the casters have been changed to
new ones. With the change of the casters, the height of the unit increases a little and
becomes 132 cm to 157 cm (changes with the monitor position).
Former caster is double-wheel type and the new caster is single-wheel type.

3. Sales materials
3.1 Brochures
From the document numbers E169-2 (for radiology) and E170-2 (for cardiology) the picture
of SSD-5500 have been changed to those with new casters.
If you need pictures of the units with new casters, please ask our staff in charge.
We are able to supply the pictures in digital form (J-PEG and TIFF) and positive films. See
attached papers for the pictures.

3.2 Specification pamphlet

Please use the attached revised specification pamphlet with document number SP-5500-
V5.1-2.0.
