Hydraulic Radius R= Total area/Wetted perimeter = 2.66

Velocity V = 1/nX(R2/3XS1/2) 4.53m/sec

Discharge Q = AXV 1453.68Cumecs

Maximum Discharge = 1854.70Cumecs

Maximum Velocity = 5.57m/sec

Ventway Calculations(H.F.L Condition):-

Assuming afflux = x = 0.15m

Width of channel at H.F.L = 110.06m
Clear span = 10.99m
Depth of flow = di = 4.21m

Head due to velocity of approach = (Vmax2/2g)X[di/(di+x)]2 1.473m

Combined head due to Velocity of approach and hi = 1.623m

afflux

Velocity through vents Vv = 0.90X(2ghi)1/2 = 5.08m/sec

Linear water way required LWW = Qd/(VvXdi) = 86.74m

No.of vents required = LWW /LC = 7.8926296633

As per the width of the river = 8.8118494796

at H.F.L

No.of vents to be provided 9Nos

No.of piers = 8Nos

Afflux Calculations(H.F.L Condition):-

Un obstructed area of cross section = A = 333.10Sqm

Total vented area provided = No.of ventsXClear spanX(BDL-LBL) = 525.21Sqm

Which is greater than the Un obstructed area of cross section

Using Orifice formula for calculation of discharge

Q = Co X (2g)1/2 X L X Dd X [h+(1+e)u2/2g]1/2

In the present case,

Linear water way = L = 98.91m

Un obstructed width = W = 110.06m

L/W = 0.8986916228

Corresponding to this value the coefficient Co = 0.89

Corresponding to this value the coefficient e = 0.6

Hence

448.61 = 0.89X4.43X69X3.7X[h+1.6u 2/2g]1/2

0.1986318 = h + 0.0815u2

At just upstream of the bridge

Q = W X (Dd + h) X u

448.61 = 80X[3.70+h]u

u = 5.607/(3.70+h)

Substituting

0.1986 = h + 0.0815[5.607/(3.70+h)]2

Solving h = 1.4 cm,hence,it can be neglected

Scour Depth Calculations:-

Discharge for design of foundations = 1.30XMax.Discharge =

Lacey's Silt factor for medium silt = 1.76Xm1/2 =

Discharge per metre width of foundations = q =

Normal scour depth D = 1.34(q2/f)1/3 =

Maximum scour depth Dm = 1.3XD =

Depth of foundation = Dm + Max.of 1.2m or 1/3 D m =

Bottom level of foundation =
