The cave has been used as a place of worship since the 1920's but
during the 1960's the area was engaged in iron ore mining and parts
of the cave were excavated for this activity.

POND
- Half natural and half man-made.
- Shaped to look like a gourd.
- In other Chinese dialects, the Chinese word for gourd, hulu
(葫芦), “hu” is pronounced fù (福), the well-known character

for happiness and good luck. Therefore, the combination fulu
(福禄 – fú lù) means “happiness and high social status”.
- Base of the lake is a combination of mud and sand.
- Water is pumped from the big lake, and excess is drained
into the lotus pond

- The softscape along the reflexology path are mostly shrubs and short thin
plants.
- The lack of big trees allows easier maintenance as there are minimum
problems of having fallen leaves along the path.
