Pre-Installation Steps

Introduction
Welcome to the OpenEdge 10.2A Service Pack Installation. This guide explains how
to install the latest OpenEdge service pack.

1. Pre-Installation Steps

Use the following instructions to complete steps that are required before you install the
service pack.

1.1 Verify Current Service Pack Level

OpenEdge 10.2A must be installed prior to installing this service pack. Use these steps
to verify you have the most current 10.2A Service Pack installed.

1. Select Start — Programs — OpenEdge10.2A — Version Info.

2. Review the information to verify that your Version is 10.2A.

1.2 Download Service Pack File

Use the following instructions to download the appropriate service pack file.

1. Log on to EPICweb and go to the Customer Portal Page. Navigate to Support >
Epicor 9 > Downloads.

Note! You can use this link: https://epicweb.epicor.com/Support/epicor9/Downloads

2. Navigate to Version 9.05.600 > Third Party Products > OpenEdge > 10.2A >
Windows.

3. Based on your environment, download the latest OpenEdge service pack file onto
your machine. For example, download one of the following files:

- Windows 32: 102ASP3.exe


- Windows 64: 102ASP3x64.exe

1.3 Stop the AppServers, Database, AdminService

Use the following instructions to stop the AppServers, database and AdminService. Do
not skip this step!

1. Make sure that all users log out of the Epicor application.

Install the Service Pack

2. Select Start — Programs - OpenEdge 10.2A - Progress Explorer Tool. Use the
Progress Explorer Tool to stop the following functions in order:

* Stop the AppServers


* Stop the OpenEdge database

3. Select Start — Control Panel — Administrative Tools — Services. The


Services window appears.

4. Right-click on AdminService, and select Properties. The AdminService dialog


box appears. On the General tab, click Stop. Click OK.

2. Install the Service Pack

Use the following instructions to install the service pack.

1. Double-click the file you previously downloaded. The installation program opens.

2. The Welcome window appears. Click Next.

3. Click Next to confirm you have backed up your system files.

4. Click Next to confirm the summary information. The installation proceeds.

5. Click Finish. The Service Pack installation is complete.

3. Post-Installation Steps

Use these instructions to restart the AdminService, database and AppServer functions.
Do not skip this step!

1. Select Start — Control Panel — Administrative Tools — Services. The


Services window appears.

2. Right-click on AdminService, and select Properties. The AdminService dialog


box appears. On the General tab, click Start. Click OK.

3. Select Start — Programs — OpenEdge 10.2A — Progress Explorer Tool. Use


the Progress Explorer Tool to start the following functions in order:

* Start the OpenEdge database.


* Start the Appservers.
The service pack installation is now complete.
