Calibration Process

Stage 1 - Calibration Process Requirements

 Water
 Proved/Certified Flow Meters
 Quality Hoses
 Tools Box
 Calibration Platform

Stage 2 – Mandatory Verification Process

 Monitor Trucks’ 1st Load out.
 Compare Temporary Chart & Physical Dip Parameters
PROCEDURES Steps (1-3)
Ensure that water flow meter is Carry out visual/physical inspection of the truck
calibrated to accuracy of 0.02% for conformity;
repeatability and error not more Ensure that the truck is positioned on a flat ground
than 0.05% before embarking Truck tires are not deflated and put off the ignition
on the calibration exercise. Ensure that the balloon is deflated and if it’s the spring type
[Repeatability is consistency of there should be no support
the meter. i.e Proving the meter. Take height of the turntable from the ground & measure
again after filling water to check disparity
Count the number of springs on front & back tires
Take the height of the springs on front & back tires
Position truck on Level/flat Check that discharge and bottom valves are closed and no
ground preferably a leakages
platform specifically for If there is any sign of sudden expansion on the tank, stop
calibration purposes. calibrating and truck go for bracing
PROCEDURES Steps (4-9)
Measure necessary parameters. Overall, Liquid
and neck heights, Neck height should be
measured from 2 sides and average heights Prepare the temporary calibration chart.
taken, Ensure that a minimum of 26 cm is
allowed b/w the liquid level & Tank top

While calibrating, climb up to the man hole to

Start the Calibration after all the connections check for inter-leakage and start calibration
are certified leakage free from the central compartment.

Before you commence calibration find our topping

Zerorize your meter before the day’s job or increment based on capacity of compartment and
client’s request, e.g. 50 liters for 11,000 liters but
next truck
for above liters it will be 100 liters
PROCEDURES Steps (10-13)
At no time should we calibrate by gravity.
POST CALIBRATION SERVICES;
If you introduce a lower flow rate error is
already there  Interpretation of calibration chart
 Calculation of shortages
 Shortage Resolutions

STAGE 2 - VERIFICATION;
The tanker is Loaded after calibration and
Physical Ullage verified
Each Compartment of the Temporary Chart
Ullage is Compared with the Physical Ullage If there are no appreciable differences
If there’s appreciable difference it is noted original chart is issued
and the truck return for recalibration
Temporary Certificate
Substantive Certificate
Reports
The following reports are generated after calibration
Truck Pre-calibration Inspection Report
Temporary Calibration Chart
Original Calibration chart (3) copies
Excel/spreadsheet soft copy of truck tank calibration
Verification Report
Upload fully endorsed calibration chart on the website
