Definitions – Value Added Services

Value Added Service (VAS):


An operation performed on materials, which enhances their value, worth, functionality
or usefulness. Value added services are performed by workers in work centers.
Example: Preservation, Packaging, Assembly, Kitting, Tagging, Price marking

VAS Order:
Order: An instruction to perform a VAS on one or more materials or items,
based on a reference document. A VAS order establishes the relationship between a
reference document and VAS pack specification. It contains details from the
respective pack specification.

VAS Activity:
Activity: A VAS order consists of one or several activities. An activity is an
operation a worker has to perform at one work center. An activity references a level
of a packaging specification. Within one activity the worker might get one or several
work steps from the packaging specification, that advices him/her how this activity is
performed. Example: Pack product into Carton (Size M) and label it.

VAS Item: Delivery Items to be handled in the VAS Order

VAS Auxiliary Product: One or more auxiliary products are used to perform an
activity. An auxiliary product can be a packaging material, an auxiliary packaging
material or a product. Examples: Paint, pallet, label, lid, carton.

General remarks about VAS order

„ Confirmation of a VAS order is possible via status and/or via


actual quantities on header and/or activity level.
„ There are two main transactions available for VAS:
/SCWM/VAS Creation and administration of VAS orders
/SCWM/VASEXEC Processing of VAS orders
„ There are several nodes available in the Warehouse Monitor to
view and control the VAS orders
„ VAS orders are smoothly integrated in the process oriented
storage control
„ There is the possibility to automatically post auxilliary
products goods issue when confirming a VAS order (e.g.
consumption of paint or cartons)

„ An indicator on the product master indicates whether it is consumption-relevant for VAS orders.
