Computer Training under eMPOWER Scheme

• Skill Development is the central thought for celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary of
Swami Vivekananda. The Current era is a Technological era. In the coming years
Information Technology will be a significant driving force for the human society in
their journey towards development and progress. With an objective that the skill of
Information Technology and its benefits reach to the common people especially
underprivileged so that they could be at par with the global standards, a training mission
has been initiated at a larger platform known as “eMPOWER” (meaning Electronic
Manpower) to train the youth in the field of IT. Under this program, the youth in each
Taluka will be provided with the basic knowledge of Computer and IT. Training under
this program will empower the youth of the State to compete at the Global level.
• The scheme will be implemented in the Government ITIs, Grant-in-aid ITCs, Kaushalya
Vardhan Kendra (KVKs) and Employment Exchanges which are under the Directorate
of Employment & Training, having adequate Computers and infrastructure for the
same.
• Under this program, initially Short term courses like Basic Computer Course (BCC) and
Information Technology Bridge Course (ITBC) will be commenced through which
basic training in the field of Computer and Information Technology will be provided.
Candidate must be of atleast 14 yrs of age and should have passed 5th Std. for being
eligible for this course.
• The Fee structure for the entire course is Rs. 50, in which ST / SC / BPL / Women /
Physically handicapped are exempted from fees. Online registration software has been
developed by NIC (National Informatics Centre) for this program. Offline registration
facility is also available. Apart from this, link has been provided on the website of
Directorate of Employment & Training i.e. www.talimrojgar.org.
• Choice of Training Models for Candidates:
Model 1 20 days Module- Daily 2 hrs training
Model 2 1 week Module- Daily 7 hrs training
Model 3 Morning/ Evening Module- Early morning and late evening training
Model 4 Weekend Modules- Daily 7 hrs training
Model 5 Certification after assessment to those having Computer literacy
• Candidate who will successfully complete the training will be awarded a Certificate
from GCVT (Gujarat Council of Vocational Training) of Short Term Training Program
and a Joint Certificate of Microsoft- GCVT will be given to those who will clear the
MicroSoft examination.
• Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendrabhai Modi has inaugurated the magical
training scheme eMPOWER on 4th July, 2012 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.
