June 1948, by the composer, in the framework of a concert by the Groupe
‘Zodiaque’.

5 – SONATINE MONODIQUE (Monodic Sonatina)


for piano. Four movements: I-Allegro con moto; II-Vif (‘Jota’); III-Andante;
IV- Animé. Composition: Rome, 1944-45. No. II was first performed in
London (Wigmore Hall) on 15 June 1947 by the composer; the first complete
performance was given by Massimo Bogianckino in October 1947 at the first
concert (private) by the Groupe ‘Zodiaque’ in Neuilly. The first public
performance was given in Paris, at the Société Nationale, Salle de l’École
Normale, on 23 February 1951, by Geneviève Joy.

for two pianos. Composition: 1947. First performance: Neuilly, October 1947,
by Massimo Bogianckino and the composer, in the framework of the first
concert (private) by the Groupe ‘Zodiaque’.

Song cycle for soprano and piano on poems by Claudine Chonez.
Composition: 1947. First performance: Neuilly, October 1947, by Geneviève
Touraine and the composer, in the framework of the first concert (private) by
the Groupe ‘Zodiaque’.

Composition: 1947. First performance: Paris, RTF (French Radio), 1947, by
the Orchestre André Girard, conducted by André Girard, in the framework of
a concert by the Groupe ‘Zodiaque’ broadcast on French radio.

9 – DON JUAN (D)


for instrumental ensemble. Sequences for a radio adaptation of the play by
Tirso de Molina El burlador de Sevilla y convidado de piedra, for which most
of the score was composed by Daniel-Lesur. Composition: 1947. Presumed to
have been destroyed, this score, given by Ohana to his teacher, Daniet-Lesur,
was reused in part by the latter in his Serenade for Strings, first performed at
the Aix-en-Provence Festival on 18 July 1954, by the Orchestre Louis de
Froment, conducted by Hans Rosbaud.

LORCA (2 Songs on Poems by Federico García Lorca)
for mezzo-soprano and piano. I-Chanson de la goutte de pluie (D); II-Nana ,
initially planned to be integrated into stage music for Yerma in 1946, a show
that was never staged. Composition: 1947. First performance: Neuilly,
October 1947, by Geneviève Touraine and the composer, in the framework of
the first concert (private) of the Groupe ‘Zodiaque’. The second song appears
as No.4 of the Spanish Songs (Chansons populaires espagnoles)(infra, no. 96).
