1.0 GENERAL NOTES

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of the Electrical Numbering System is to provide a clear and


simplified method to identify all electrical equipment, drawings, schemes, cables,
raceways and devices, in a manner suitable for manipulation in a common
database, setroute.

This electrical numbering system suplements and clarifies further the project
numbering systems as specifically applicable to the electrical equipment, devices
and engineering documents. It utilizes the facility codes and equipment
designations included in the project engineering procedure.

2.0 FACILITY CODE NUMBERS

Refer to Project Procedure Manual, Section 5, Subject Numbering systems


for facility designator.

3.0 ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT DESIGNATORS

Refer to Project Procedure Manual, Section 5, Subject Numbering systems, Exhibit A for
equipment designator

4.0 EQUIPMENT NUMBERING IDENTIFICATION

4.1 ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT NUMBER

Equipment number is assigned using associated 4 digit Facility Code and


applicable equipment designator as illustrated below.

4.1.1 SWITCHGEAR

EXAMPLE : 4.16kV SWITCHGEAR

0220 : Facility Designator

SG : Electrical Equipment Designator

221 : Sequential Number (3 digits)


(First number from facility & last two digits are the sequential number)

4.1.2 MOTORS

EXAMPLE : 0210CR001-1A (Primary Crusher Hydraulic System Skid motor)

0210CR001-1A

0210 : Facility Designator

CR : Equipment Designator, two letters followed by three digits.

001 : Number, three digits assigned sequentially

1 : Ancilliary number, two digit assignment (1-99)

Note :

a) Letters A to P are reserved only for Motors (letters “O & I” are not used).

b) The sequential number shall be unique for each equipment in association


with the “Equipment Designator”.

4.1.3 CONTROL PANEL

EXAMPLE : IF A CONTROL PANEL IS DEDICATED TO ONE


MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT SUCH AS THE PRIMARY CRUSHER
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM SKID 0210CR001-1, THE IDENTIFICATION WILL
BE AS FOLLOWS :

0210CR001-1 : Mechanical Equipment or Sub-Equipment from


Mechanical Equipment List

CO : Electrical Control Panel

1 : Sequential Number (if only one panel is used, the


number “1” can be ommited).

6.0 DRAWING NUMBERING SYSTEM

Schematic and block diagram numbering system is described below for numbering other
type of document see project procedure (Reference 1)

6.1 TYPICAL SCHEMATIC AND BLOCK DIAGRAMS

Typical schematic Drawing numbers consist of seven or eight alphanumeric


characters as follows :

EXAMPLE : 0000-E-501-1

0210-E-501-1

0000 : Process Plant & Mine Facility Code

E : Electrical Discipline

501 : Drawing type Designator

-1 : (1-99) Used only if there are multisheet drawings

6.2 SPECIFIC SCHEMATIC AND BLOCK DIAGRAM

Specific schematic drawing number consist of thirteen alphanumeric character as


follows:

NOTE: In case of schematic drawing has more than one sheet, add “-1, -2, etc” at the
end of the drawing number described before, as follow:

7.0 CABLE AND RACEWAYS SERVICE LEVEL

The service level is assigned to every cable & raceway to insure that the cable is routed
in the proper service level raceways.

A : MEDIUM VOLTAGE 23 kV (POWER)

E : MEDIUM VOLTAGE 4.16 kV (POWER)

8.0 SCHEME/LOOP/CABLE/WIRE NUMBER SYSTEM

8.1 SCHEME NUMBER

Scheme numbers are derived from the Mechanical equipment number and consist
of nine or more alphanumeric characters as follows :

8.2 LOOP NUMBER

Loop numbers are derived from P & ID and consists of nine or more
alphanumeric characters as follows:

8.3 CABLE NUMBER

Cable numbers consist of the scheme or loop number with service level
and cable sequential number.

Cable sequential number will be used in ascending numerical order.

8.4 WIRE NUMBER

Wire numbers will consist of one or two alphanumeric characters.

This number will be shown on the Setroute “Termination Card”, “Cable


Schedule”, “Elementary Diagram” or Loop Diagrams.

9.0 RACEWAY NUMBER

Raceway/Number/Identification consist of nine alphanumeric characters. Each raceway


number is unique in association with the applicable facility code number

10.0 220 & 69Kv SUBSTATIONS EQUIPMENT CODES

Additionally for MEL internal use, the 220/69kV substation equipment are also
numbered as follows in conformance with the numbering system used for the existing
substation equipment.
