3. Treating Asthma 7
CONCLUSION VI
INTRODUCTION
Some think it is no worse than a cold or the flu. For those who have
experienced asthma, though, it can be a frightening and very uncomfortable
occurrence.
Simply put, asthma is a condition that affects the airways and breathing of the
person who has it.
I
II ALL ABOUT ASTHMA
It is triggered when the airway comes into contact with something that
irritates the lining, causing it to become inflamed and begin to swell.
The airways narrow even more due to the eventual build-up of mucus.
This narrowing has a constrictive effect on the airways causing the difficulty in
breathing that we know as asthma.
The triggers for asthma vary from person to person, depending on individual
sensitivity. What might irritate one asthmatic sufferer may be completely
harmless to another.
Sometimes the asthma trigger may be obvious - pet dander, cat or dog hair, for
example - After exposure to such things, the asthma symptoms will soon
follow.
But often the trigger may not be at all obvious, only producing symptoms
much later, in what is know as a delayed reaction.
The very first thing to do when experiencing any kind of difficulty with
breathing is to consult a medical doctor.
Studies have shown that physical activity plays and important part in asthma
prevention, but it is believed that fully 80% of asthma sufferers do not get
sufficient exercise.
In addition, specific foods have been proven to protect against asthma and to
help with lung function.
Research has shown that eating foods rich in vitamin C such as strawberries,
kiwis and citrus fruit may have a significant, protective effect on asthma's
respiratory symptoms.
IV ALL ABOUT ASTHMA
An Italian study that followed 18,000 children discovered that those consuming
the greatest amount of vitamin C-containing fruit had enormous 44% fewer
experiences of respiratory difficulty than children eating less of this kind of
fruit.
Dutch research has confirmed these findings, demonstrating that people who
ate the most fruit and vegetables had the healthiest lung function.
Foods rich in vitamin E and C are believed to help reduce the inflammatory
response in the lungs of those who suffer from asthma.
If you have been diagnosed with asthma, then follow your doctor's instructions.
Especially for someone who is unable to take a proper breath and as a result
shortness of breath becomes a regular feature in the life of the affected person.

Beside the asthma inhaler, there are also other treatments available. The type
of treatment, however, is a case to case basis.
You should always consult with your doctor on which type of treatment is most
appropriate for you.
Treatment for a person is not always the right one for another. It always
depends on the causes, triggers, risk factors, severity of condition, and overall
health of the person.
Every person should be closely monitored after seeing a doctor so that proper
treatment and care is given to the asthmatic person.
There should be a asthma management plan worked out with your doctor. A
good treatment plan may include being desensitized from agents that cause
the signs of asthma.
Treating Asthma 9
Others may require certain medications that are meant to control the severity
and frequency of the attacks.
Since asthma is a chronic condition, there is no absolute cure for it. The best
thing you can do is to find a treatment plan that is most appropriate to your
specific condition.
Work out a management plan that will prevent asthma attacks and give
emergency cure when one happens.
Your plan should both be to prevent and to provide immediate relief. Ensure
that you understand the uses and precautions of inhalers and nebulizers.
Be guided accordingly on how to properly use each agent and what are the
emergency measures to watch out for.
Have an open communication with your doctor and ask all the questions and
doubts you have in mind.
Clarify all issues and seek proper advice. Do not self-medicate and do not
presume. It is always best to be safe.

Treating asthma is possible and can be effective if one only knows how to ask
and seek prompt guidance from authorized persons like the doctor and care
provider such as a nurse who is experienced and well-trained with asthma
cases.

Even though obesity is not among those conditions with pain and suffering as

The reason for which many people label obesity as a disease is because it can

They use inhalers in case of emergency and specific medicine on a daily basis.
However, the overuse of these medicines can significantly affect the human

without having those dangerous side effects?

Herbal Remedies For Asthma 15
What if you could live your normal life and treat your condition in a natural way,
without being necessary to ingest all kinds of chemical?
Well, I think that most asthmatics will surely enjoy the possibility of totally
removing the medicines from their lives and start a new life by treating their
condition using herbs.
This thing is possible and it has been done from long time by other cultures.
There are 2 main mixes of herbs which can help asthmatics live their life the
natural way, without chemical drugs which were temporary alleviating their
suffering, but had disastrous effects on the long run.
The first mix of herbs is one highly used in Middle East countries, which
consists of chamomile, cinnamon, sage, black cumin seeds, cloves, rosemary,
spearmint and thyme, as well as other similar herbs with therapeutic effects.
This combination of herbs has been used for centuries in Middle East countries
to treat asthma or at least alleviate its symptoms.
The other herb combination which is believed to have great effects upon the
human body and offer great results in treating asthma is the mixture called
Saiboku-To.
This mixture - which has its origins in Asia contains 10 herbs - from which the
best known are ginger, magnolia, Baikal skullcap, licorice and Korean ginseng.
Most of the patients which have been treated using this Asian blending of
herbs reported serious improvement in their conditions and reductions in their
steroidal medication.
If you suffer from asthma, you should definitely try at least one of these
blends. They have the advantage of being 100% natural and of not presenting
any side effects which may damage or affect your health in a negative way.

How Can An Asthma Diary Help You Treat Your Condition 17
Many asthma sufferers have made a habit out of keeping a diary of their
condition.
Not only is that helping them keeping track of the number of attacks they have
had in a certain period.
But this type of recording is also highly useful for their doctors, which are able
to evaluate the way in which their patients' condition is evolving.
Also, on the basis of the accurate description provided by the patient, the
doctor is capable of better observing the way in which the medicine are
affecting the individual and whether they are efficient in treating the asthma or
they are only worsening the condition.
For this reason, it is advisable that each and every asthmatic should keep a
diary where to record all the information they think is necessary about their
daily condition and the symptoms they are experiencing during a normal day.
Things like the symptoms preceding an attack, the feelings one feels when an
asthma attack strikes, the things which may trigger the attacks and the way in
which the current actions and the environment affect the individual is
information that should be written in the diary.
The more accurate is the information noted down in the diary, the more
effective the treatment based on those notes will be.
The asthma diaries are helpful tools in treating this condition properly. By
knowing exactly what symptoms you experience before having an attack, you
can prevent it from happening.
