6. NUMBERING SCHEME OR METHOD

In addition to the identification describe below, the film identification shall

include Project name, company name , pipe diameter, Welder ID , Date of test
or exposure.

6.1 Numbering System

The piping is made up of a number of work section it is expected that a number

of welds will be produced on each section on any day. It is therefore important
that a unique and flexible number system is employed to maintain accurate
audit control during and post construction. Each section is numbered and has
defined construction boundaries. It is intended to use the section number to
form a unique part of the weld number.

The numbering system will be applied by marking the figures and symbols
more particularly the section number, weld or joint number, and the welders
code or symbol as presented in this specification on the pipe surface near the
involved weld joint. The unit no. and or the unit name itself will be indicated in
the heading of the Daily Weld Status and Weld Joint Inspection And
Traceability Report.

6.3 Production Welds

Each Unit shall be following rule of numbering system as below:

Production welds are defined as welds excluding Tie-in, Repair, Cut-Out and
new welds.

Production welds will have sequential numbering and will be controlled by the
welding Supervisor.

Weld number will be prefixed by the section number followed by the actual
production weld number.

Example : Unit I , 6” dia. Water Disposal Line

For section 1 KP 0.00 to KP 1.00

The first production weld will be numbered SN1W01 or (S1W01), the second
production weld is SN1W02 or (S1W02), etc. The numbering of the joints will
follow an ascending mode until the last joint in the section is welded or
recorded.

For section 2 KP 1.00 to KP 2.00

The first production weld will be numbered SN2WO1 or (S2W01), and
the second production weld will be numbered SN2W02 or (S2W02), etc.

6.4 Tie-in Welds

Tie-in welds will be numbered to follow the previous production weld number
and will be identified by the suffix T. Therefore T1 would be used for a single
weld overlap tie-in and T2 for a two weld pup tie-in etc.

Example : Unit I , 6” dia. Water Disposal Line

Weld number SNIW25-T1 or (S1W25-T1) would be a tie-in weld following

production weld SN1W25 or (S1W25) for a single overlap tie-in.

SN1W25-T2 or (S1W25-T2) would be second tie-in weld for a pup tie-in.

In the situation where a short segment of the section is left for the tie-in crew to
complete, each weld will be identified by the suffix T and will be numbered T1,
T2 , T3 , T4 , etc., representing the no. welds for the skip segment.

Road Crossing: For road crossing the joints will be numbered showing the
section and the joint number in ascending order. For example; S1W1RDX
T1,T2,T3,T4 are weld joints in the road crossing after joint no.1 in section 1.

PT. Sutindo Project Ind
PIPELINE WELD JOINT AND RADIOGRAPH
ISSUED Date : 05/12/03 FILM NUMBERING SYSTEM Page : 4 of 8

River Crossing: For river crossing the joints will be numbered as in the way
joints are numbered for road crossing. For example; S8W28RVX T1, T2, T3 are
weld joints in a river crossing immediately after joint no.28 in section 8.

6.5 Repair Welds

Repair welds will be identified by the original weld number with the suffix R,
then the repair number.

Example: Unit I, 6” dia. Water Disposal Line

The first repair on production weld SN1W25 or (S1W25) would be SN1 W25R1
or (S1W25R1). The second repair on the weld would be SN1W2R2 or
(S1W25R2) etc.
When a repair is completed on a tie-in weld, the weld would be logged
SN1W25T1R1 or (S1W25T1R1)

6. 6 Cut-Outs

New weld that result from cut outs shall be identified by the original weld
number and suffixed C/O after the number. The first cut out weld would be C/O
1, the second C/O 2, etc…

Example: Unit I, 6” dia. Water Disposal Line

If production weld SNIW25 or (S1W25) is cut out and replace by new weld, the
new weld identification number would be logged as SN1W25 C/O or S1W25
C/O.

7. INPECTION AND TEST REPORT

QC Inspector should inspect the weld visually before marking the joint number
on the pipe.
External weld number and welder code or symbol will be marked on the pipe
coating with contrasting indelible paint. The number will be located on the work
side of the pipe at distance of a least one meter upstream of the weld. This
position will ensure that the joint coating material does not cover the number.

QC Inspector will ensure that the joint number applied on the pipe is correct
and placed or marked on the appropriate position.

For radiography of the welds, identification of the joint will be by lead letters
and numbers, which will be shown on the radiograph during the interpretation
of the radiographs for the weld.

All pipe line field weld joints will be logged in the Weld Status Report and will
be transferred to the As-Built Traceability Schedule/Report .
