I want to talk about my life in UK. I went to study in the UK a few years ago. The most exciting
experience is that I went to a host family for my Christmas holiday in December. I went there
alone, on a train. It took me one or two hours to get there, to York and then I stayed there for one
week. This was the first time that I spent time with a UK family which I learnt a lot from them.
They treated me like a family member, they took me out to eat, to play and to see all the
different interesting culture of their region. On Christmas Day, they even bought me some
presents to celebrate the Christmas.
When I went back to Oxford, which was the place that I stayed for that year, I had a chance to
teach in a Chinese school every Sunday. The kids are about 14 years old and I taught them
Chinese. They were all very cute but they all spoke in English. I spent lots of time to encourage
them to speak in Cantonese.
During my studies in the UK, I lived with few other students from different countries. They
were very nice and we used to cook on our own just like a big family. Every day we went to
supermarkets to buy food and drinks and desserts. We cooked every day. I was not a good cook.
Normally I just put everything into oven. And I’ve tried to bake a cake before but failed and they
all laughed at me. And every time I baked a cake, they never tasted it. We shared a flat together -
we shared kitchen, bathrooms but we did have our own sink and bedroom. The life in the UK is
quite relaxing because you can explore more and do different activities at school or even some
other extracurricular activities.
I returned to Hong Kong few years ago but I still keep in touch with all my friends in the UK till
now. Sometimes we even send emails to each other. I usually get tons of emails from my friends
and at night I always spare my time to reply all the messages. I really enjoyed the time I had in
the UK with my friends.

I'm going to talk about my daily routine. On weekdays (from Monday to Friday), I wake up at
twenty past seven, but I get up at half past. I have a shower, and then I have breakfast. I usually
have a white coffee and toast for breakfast, but for some days I have biscuits or cookies! (People
in the USA say "cookies" and people in the UK say "biscuits".) After breakfast I get dressed and
I go to work at quarter past eight. I walk to the train station. That's about ten minutes. I get the
train at 8.30 and I get to Atocha train station at ten to nine, and then I walk to my office.
I start work at nine. I work from nine to two, and from three to six in the afternoon. I have lunch
in my office. I often have a sandwich and a piece of fruit. Sometimes I have a chocolate bar, too!
After work, I go shopping for food and things for the house. I return home before half past
seven. I rest a bit, and then I do some housework. At about nine I cook dinner for my family and
me. We usually have dinner at half past nine. After that, we watch TV or I read a book. I usually
fall asleep in front of the TV set or the book! I go to bed at midnight.
At the weekend, my day is much better! I sleep more and I relax. Sometimes I go out for a drink
with friends or my family and I go out for a meal. Once a month we go on a day trip to the
countryside or the mountain. We need to breathe fresh air! Sometimes I stay home, and I listen
to music, or watch films or movies with my family. I also like drawing and dancing! Sometimes
I go dancing with my friends. It's fun! On Sunday evening I usually read a bit novels!
