To Whom It May Concern:

It is a pleasure to recommend Carley Gomes for a scholarship. As a double major in Communication Studies and Public
Relations, Carley embraces the attributes of a life-long learner.

As her academic advisor and instructor, I have known Carley for approximately two years. As her instructor, I collaborated
with Carley in a semester-long project with The Rhody Outpost located at the University of Rhode Island. That unique
collaborative effort opened my eyes to Carley’s determination and commitment to her studies. As a team, the students not only
assisted with the social media presence for this invaluable non-profit organization, but we volunteered at this food pantry located
on the campus of the University of Rhode Island. Carley is one student who enjoys participating in a community-impact
project. She sees the “big picture”.

Carley is a dedicated student who embraces the positive learning environment we cherish in the Communication Studies
Program. With a GPA of 3.80, she is on the Dean’s List and considered a leader in the Harrington School of Communication
and Media. To complement her course work, Carley successfully participated in several outstanding internship opportunities.
As a Promotions Intern with 95.5 WBRU, Carley assisted with events to promote the brand. In addition, she managed and
updated the online calendars for WBRU’s website using Word Press. She enjoyed the opportunity to contact winners of
contests and was a fine ambassador for 95.5 WBRU. In her internship with Providence Media, Carley gained practical
experience with editing. She not only edited articles but transferred print articles to online articles.

Recognizing the importance of professional development, Carley is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of
America. Typical of Carley, she immerses herself in this organization as the Social Media Coordinator; she manages the
Instagram, Facebook and Twitter presence.

Most notable, Carley has well-developed writing and analytical skills. It is a pleasure to read her assignments as the depth of
her interest is clearly revealed given her research and analysis. While many students struggle with their writing skills, Carley
consistently submits well-written papers and always on time. That detail, alone, is remarkable.

Without hesitation, I recommend Carley Gomes for a scholarship opportunity. If you would like to speak with me about
additional details, I can be reached at 353-3335.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my interactions with Carley Gomes, a remarkable ambassador for the Communication
Studies Program.

Sincerely,

Regina A. Bell
