RELEASE NOTE

1101035-RN, Rev. B Date: 16/08/99

Title: Paradox Runtime for C50 RTU

Firmware Part No.: 1101035

1. Summary

This release is an update release of the Paradox Runtime package.

Note that the Paradox Runtime package is distributed under license

from Borland with our Paradox Application "DBE" for the C50 and must
not be distributed except with C50 Configurator packages or as update
to existing Paradox Runtime.

This release, 1101035-B, differs from the previous release in that the
name Foxboro Australia is displayed when the install batch file is
invoked.

2. Description

The files on this disc form the Paradox Runtime 4.5 package, and are
distributed under license from Borland.

The system must be installed from this disc to the Laptop or PC which
is to run the C50 DBE package.

The file install.bat in the root directory is an install utility which copies
all the files to the correct directory on the hard disc.

3. Known Problems

Nil.

4. Installation

(Note: the usage of Paradox Runtime is subject to licensing agreement

to be supplied to all users.)

(i) Install the contents of this disc to the hard disc of the laptop using the
install utility in the root directory of the floppy disc:

a:install Source Destination

where:
a: is the DOS disk-drive from which the install utility is to be run,

Page 2 1101035-RN Rev B

Source is the DOS disk-drive (in this example a:) (and directory if
required) where the installation files are to be read from, and
Destination is the DOS disk-drive (and directory) where the C50 files
are to be loaded to.

e.g.: a:install a: c:\test

would read the Runtime package from the disk in drive A:, creating the
directory PDOXRUN on drive C: below the directory C:\TEST.

Note: it is strongly recommended that the installation destination be the

root directory of the destination disk (eg Destination of C:).
e.g.: a:install a: c:

4.2 Retain the floppy disc as a backup.

4.3 Add a path to PDOXRUN in the autoexec.bat file.

5. Source Files

The Paradox Runtime package is distributed under license from

Borland.

5.1 Internal Revision Identification

This is Paradox Runtime Version 4.5.

6. Requirements

• P.C. Notebook or laptop, minimum 386SX, 4M memory, 40MB

hard disc, 1.44MB floppy disc.

9. Used in

Required for use of C50 configuration utility DBE.

10. TUTILITY package

This package (on the second disc) is supplied with the Runtime
package but is not normally required. It provides utilities to examine
and manipulate the database tables in the event of problems which
cannot be corrected through the Runtime package. If required, the
TUTILITY may be installed using the same procedure as Runtime. The

Page 3 1101035-RN Rev B

package is installed in the directory \TUTILTY and may be run using
the command “tutility”.

TUTILITY permits the user to inspect, validate and automatically repair

the structure of any database table (*.db file) and its associated
indexes and forms. The repair facility may be required if tables have
become corrupted due to disk errors, power failures, etc. TUTILITY
provides on--line help that indicates how the program should be used.

Note: Because TUTILITY provides direct access to the raw data

tables, it is able to destroy valid data in the tables through
careless use. Therefore only the Verify and Rebuild options
should be used with DBE tables. If TUTILITY is unable to
automatically repair a corrupted DBE table, it will be necessary
to reload that table from the original distribution disks.

TUTILITY should only be used to attempt to recover data from

DBE tables that have become corrupted. It can only recover
data that has been corrupted in particular and limited ways, and
any table recovered with TUTILITY should be checked carefully
to ensure that its contents are valid.
