Introduction

Thank you for choosing Steel-Master, an easy to use

software tool, for design of steel structures. We are sure that
this package will justify the confidence you have placed in us.

Steel–Master has many pre-defined truss and frame

configurations. It calculates the dead load, live load and wind
load automatically. It also generates section-wise quantities
of items. Rolled sections like angles, channels, hollow box or
tubular sections can be used in design. It comes with a Built-
Up section Editor.

1. Installation

PACKAGE CONTENTS
Steel-Master kit will contain the following items:
¾ CD marked Steel-Master : 1 No
¾ Hardware Lock: 1 No
¾ Steel-Master Startup Guide : 1 No ( This Manual )

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Steel-Master is an advanced Windows based Software. It is
easy to install this software, as the CD has in-built installation
program, SETUP.exe located in SteelMaster Folder in CD.

Starting Installation
Place software CD in CD drive. Run SETUP program from
SteelMaster folder. Follow the instructions displayed.
Enter your Company Name properly when asked for. It will
be printed on top of all outputs. Installation program will ask
for the Product Sr.No, enter this number the same way as it
is written on the software CD.
By default software is installed in “Ensoft\SteelMaster”
subfolder in “Program Files” folder of your C drive. Although
you can change the name of this folder, you are advised not
to do so. The program files are copied in SteelMaster folder.
Installation Program will create a “Ensoft SteelMaster”
submenu in “Programs” menu of “Start” button. Ensoft
Steel-Master icon will also be created on Desktop.

Connecting Hardware Lock

Steel-Master Software will run only if the Hardware lock
supplied along with is connected to your computer. You will
receive a White Colour USB Lock with software CD.
Connect the USB LOCK in the USB port. Wait for a while.
A message will be displayed, "Found New Hardware"
“Your Hardware is installed and Ready For Use”.
Click on the program from desktop icon, It will start running.
Program will Register Ensoft ActiveX Controls automatically
while running for the first time. Following setting are required
for Windows7/Vista to register ActiveX to run Steel-Master.

Settings Required For Windows 7

From START button Go to Control Panel >
User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts >
Click on Change User Account Control settings >
To turn off User Account Control,
Move the Slider to Never notify position > Click OK
Type administrator password, if prompted.
You will need to restart your computer. This setting will allow
program to register ActiveX Controls and Run Properly.

Settings Required For VISTA O.S.

ALTERNATIVE 1:
From START button Go to Setting > Control Panel >
Select Security Centre > Other Setting option
User account control to be turned OFF.

ALTERNATIVE 2:
From START button Go to Setting > Control Panel >
User account > Turn user account control off >
Uncheck checkbox for “use account control to protect
computer”
Shut Down & Restart Computer. Start Running Steel-Master.

USB Hardware Lock

White Colour USB Lock is the Latest 64 bit Version of Lock
supplied with new set of software. Blue Lock is an earlier 32
bit Version of USB Lock (it does not run under Windows 7).
When you connect a USB Pen Drive a Green Arrow Symbol is
shown on the Task bar. But when you connect a USB mouse
or USB Keyboard it does not show Green Arrow Symbol.
White Colour USB Lock also does not Show Green Arrow
Symbol on the Task bar. It is self-detecting device.
Installation Procedure for Lock Drivers
Hardware Lock Driver Installation is required only if Lock is
Not detected automatically by your computer.

If “Lock not installed” or “Unknown Error” message

appears, it means that Lock is Not detected properly.
Follow the procedure mention below for installing Lock Driver.

Drivers for WHITE COLOUR USB Lock

Insert the Software CD into the CD-ROM drive.
Connect the USB LOCK in the USB port

White Colour USB Lock does not Show Green Arrow

Symbol on the Task bar. It is self detecting device

If “Lock not installed” or “Unknown error” message appears,

install the drivers as below.

From START button Go to Setting > CONTROL PANEL

Select SYSTEMS > Hardware > Device Manager

Check at the list and count USB Interface devices to whether

the USB lock is detected.

Double Click at + Human Interface Devices.

It will display a list of USB Human Interface Devices

Right click with mouse on each USB Human Interface

Devices entry, With Properties option under General Tab,
Check which entry is for Location : Sentry HID Lock.
Go to Driver Tab and select UPDATE DRIVERS option.

A Dialog Box will be displayed “Welcome to Hardware

Update Wizard”. Select "No not this time". And Press Next.
A Dialog Box appears.

Select “Install from a list or specific location ( Advanced )”

and Press Next

Select HIDDrivers Folder from Software CD location in

Browse and Press Next. Then Click to Finish. Click on the
Software program icon from desktop, It will start running.
Driver for BLUE COLOUR USB Lock
If you have a Old USB Lock with Blue Colour, then Insert
Software CD into drive & connect USB LOCK in USB port.
Blue Lock is an earlier 32 bit Version of USB Lock. it does not
run under Windows 7

A Dialog Box will display “Found New Hardware Wizard”.

Message displayed in the dialog box is "Can windows
connect to windows update to search for software
upgrade ? "
Select "No not this time".
Next Dialog box “What do you want the wizard to do? ”
Will appear. Select "Install Software Automatically".
Wait for a while. Press "Finish" to complete the installation.
If Windows can not locate USB Lock Driver files Automatically
then, select "I Will choose the Driver to Install" option
instead of Install Automatically. Press "Next".
Press "Have Disk" button and Browse to the location of
USBDrivers folder in Software CD. Point to the
SentrUsb.INF file and Press "Open" and "OK" to continue.
Press "NEXT". Press "FINISH" to complete installation.
If this procedure does not work, check if driver is already
present.
Goto Controlpanel -> SYSTEM -> Hardware ->Device
Manager
From the List check whether "Hardware Lock" item is
present and has a Sentry USB Lock entry with Question
Mark.
Right Click with mouse and uninstall the Sentry Lock.
Repeat procedure from beginning to Reinstall USB Drivers.

Driver for Parallel Port Lock

Run Install Parallel Port Lock Driver from SteelMaster

icon on the Desktop to install the Driver. Alternatively Goto
C:\ProgramFiles\Ensoft\SteelMaster\SteelMaster
folder and double click on DrvInstall.exe program to install
the Driver.
TROUBLE SHOOTING ERRORS
In this section the possible errors that are likely to occur
while installing the Steel-Master are given.

Main Menu Screen doesn’t appear

Main menu screen of SteelMaster doesn’t appear after title
screen. If this happens Press Ctrl + Alt + Del only once. The
Close Program dialog box will then appear on the screen.
Now Select Exe Name and Click on End Task. Check whether
the lock is properly installed or not.

Failed to Create Empty Document

This error message will be displayed on the screen if the
program is unable to create a new database file. Remove
READ ONLY attribute of the file being created.

Error 115:
An error occurred during the move data processes.
Reason: Sentry files are read only in windows folder.
Solution:
Go to C:\ Windows from Explorer
1) Arrange the files by ‘Name’
2) Look for the file names starting with ‘sentry’ from the list
of files.
3) Select all sentry files & right click in the blue area.
4) Select ‘Properties’ option & remove Read Only attribute.
5) Again Run setup.exe program

Error 623:
Reason: Earlier Installation command was run halfway.
Solution : Delete Earlier old SteelMaster folder & Reinstall.

Error : Cannot Run 16 Bit Application.

Reason: Problem in your WINDOWS Installation.
Solution: Contact your Hardware Vendor.
2. Getting Started
Running Software for the First Time
CD sent along with contains following Presentation files in the
MS Power Point .PPT format. Double click on the desired file
to open the presentation files. Press any key to view the slide
show and Esc to end it.
