Human beings do that in many ways. One of these ways is bodily

Have you ever noticed how busy the roads in Cairo are especially in the
rush hours? Every year more and more cars are using them. These cars do
a lot of harm. Not only do they disrupt the traffic but they also cause
pollution.
Almost every family has a car. Some families have more than one. No
wonder you see many traffic jams all over the city. Perhaps the worst jams
are at the city centre. These long lines of cars crawling into Cairo waste
time and money. Everyday precious time is wasted while you are waiting
impatiently at the traffic lights.
At last when you reach your destination, you have every right to feel
kind of relief, but soon you face new troubles. There is no place to park
your car. In Cairo it is very hard to find parking spaces.
It is a problem that causes us trouble by day and anxiety by night. To
solve this problem more car-parks should be built just outside the city
cnetre. Then the drivers can leave their cars and catch a bus to their
offices. Another solution is to build multiple story garages.
Wide , smooth, straight roads must be built now in place of the old,
narrow roads. These roads must not pass through the city centre, by-pass
it, they must not be crossed by other roads. This can be achieved by fly-
over bridges. It is heart warming to see such roads being built now. Carts
and cycles should not be allowed on such roads. Let us hope that in the
near future when people rush to work and then back home the roads will
be as orderly as ever and traffic will flow without hindrance.

In Egypt, the tourism industry has come to hold a position of great
importance Lately. It is felt that it could help increase the national income.
In some European countries, tourism has brought in millions of dollars
yearly, although they lack the natural and historical attractions we have in
Egypt.

One of the results of technology and population growth is the increase
of pollution throughout the world. According to a United Nations report,
the future of all life on earth will be endangered if man does not control
contamination of the environment. It is time we realize the full extent of the
dangers that face mankind.
For instance, here in Egypt, look at our River Nile. It is strange to see
how everything is thrown into it as if it were our litter basket, instead of

Arab world, but internationally as well. International publishers were
competing to participate in our Fair this year. It is a sign of awareness that
we start regarding culture as essential for our civilization rather than
considering it a means of entertainment, because the culture of any
country speaks on its behalf and represents it abroad. If you can imagine
how culture can affect the economy of any nation, it will be easy for you to
think of it as a commodity that could be sold abroad.
The fair has hosted famous thinkers, poets, writers and critics from
fifty-two countries to participate in the debate held every evening at the
fairground. More than fifteen million books by 1800 publishers were also
displayed in the Fair.
Unlike fairs of previous years where the selling of books was the main
ai m, it was decided in this year’s Fair to take advantage of all the space
and time available to turn the Fair into a festival combining the various
activities of culture and art.
It was a duty as well as an honour that the Book Fair paid a special
tribute to our 1988 winner of the Nobel prize, Naguib Mahfouz, by
assigning a whole main division to his novels and literary publications.

It is most necessary for everybody to cut down on his food expenses.
Since the early 1970s the cost of food has gone up faster than the cost of
all other commodities and services… The increase has amounted to more
than 300%.
For all Egyptian families food is the biggest item in their monthly
household budget. In fact, it swallows more than half the budget of
millions of low-income families. People suffer a lot from the high prices of
food.
How will such a state of sffairs end ? is it the fate of low-income
families to face starvation ? Isn’t there a way out ?
To be sure, there is. You can redcue your food expenses at least 20% by
observing the following pieces of advice. Note the food items which you
need when your supplies run low. Group the same kinds of food and
supplies together and write a list of your needs. Use your list as you shop
and don’t buy any items which are not included on the list. Food is sold
nowadays in different forms : fresh, canned and frozen. Choose the
cheapest and the healthiest ones. You can buy fresh vegetables instead of

frozen ones because they are cheaper and healthier. Chickens are cheaper
than red meat. You can have beans, cheese and eggs instead of meat.
One last advice, “Don’t go shopping on an empty stomach”. Shopping
when you are hungry may tempt you to buy things you don’t really need.

For centuries, people have tried to conquer nature. They have built tall
skyscrapers and bridges over rivers. But not all these efforts are
successful. Bridges fall soon, and buildings collapse. Even the pyramids
in Egypt has problems, and the first few fell down.
People have built skyscrapers for years. It would seem safe to assume
that they now how to do it. That is what a large company thought when it
bult its new headquarters recently. But soon after the steel- and – glass
building was finished, the windows began to fall out, crashing all over the
streets. One windy night, 65 windows fell into the streets and had to be
replaced by plywood. That’s when people started calling the building the
‘plywood palace”. This continued for years while a number of different
solutions were tried, and lots of excuses were made . Lawyers for the
construction company even said that it is normal for windows to fall out of
skyscrapers, but that everyone was being unfair and criticize their building
alone.
Finally, investigators found a mistake in engineering. The building’s
irregular shape caused it to sway too much in the wind . The problem is
solved now, and the windows have stopped falling out. But the building
still has one unusual feature. Every day a guard examines it with
binoculars to make sure the windows aren’t starting to crack again. And

Dreams have interested, puzzled, and even frightened people.

A modern international airport is a vast complex the size of a small
town. Each year, it will process through its sytem hundreds of thousands
of aircraft movements , several million passengers and many tons of
goods. Each aircraft movement is controlled from a tower in which there
are air-traffic controllers have radio link with all aircraft and monitor their
airborne movements by radar. Planes are getting faster and runways are
growing longer and modern airports must have a runway of at least 50
metres wide and 4 kilometres long.
To process such huge numbers of people each day. An airport must
employ a staff of many thousands. Amongst these are ground hostesses
to help people with their enquiries, and customs officials to check that
ceratin goods do not go out or come into the country without their
knowledge. Caterers supply the restaurants and cafetrias, as well as
provide prepacked meals for passengers in flight, Maintenance engineers,
whose vital job is to ensure the safety of the aircraftr, run into several
thousands.
Goods are often handled at a separate terminal where aircraft are
usually specially fitted out. The type of goods varies greatly and may
include anything from a gorilla bound to a foreign zoo to gold bars in
transit to an overseas bank.
Air travel increases annually, and airport facilities are continually
being extended. Today’s international airport, already a scene of endless
activity, promises to be even busierin the future.
