Ans. Green house gases: Green house gases are certain gases in the atmosphere that trap energy from the sun. For examples, i) Water vapor iv) Carbon di-oxide ii) Methane v) Nitrous oxide iii) Ozone
Q3. Why are trees so important?
Ans. Trees are so important because ---- i) they give us oxygen, food and medicine. ii) they keep the environment cool and reduce global warming iii) they purify the air by removing carbon-dioxide and giving oxygen.

Q4. What are the causes of air pollution ? Ans. The causes of air pollution are --- i) Burning of fossil fuels like coal, petroleum oil. ii) Emission from automobile engines. iii) Exhaust from factories and industries.

Ans. i) Acid rain destroys the leaves of plants and kills many trees. ii) A large number of fish and other aquatic plants and animals die due to acid rain. iii) It kills useful microorganisms and destroys nutrients of soil. Q6. What effect does acid rain have on buildings made of sandstone or limestone or marble? Ans. Acids have corrosive effect on limestone or marble buildings. Sulfur dioxide increases the rate of corrosion of limestone, sandstone or marble which reduces their value and beauty. Q7. Write three effects of air pollution
