STATEMENT OF INTENT

Technology is driven by need. Inventors often have an uncanny skill of resolving situations
with their innovations. But what separates engineers from mere innovators is the ability to
recognize the importance of sustainable technological solutions for the future. Although
many of our needs and predicaments remain the same, the answers keep changing with time.
My ability to be proactive in this matter makes me stand apart. In addition to finding out how
a machine operates, I’ve always been interested in design aspects and monitoring the
incipient faults occurring within machines. This urge has strengthened my ability to
recognize the scope for improvement and also motivated me to look beyond the conventional
functionalities of any machine.
Ever since my school days, I’ve been interested in the theoretical frameworks in Mathematics
and Sciences, which drive the physical world. This interest enabled me to secure an overall
87% in 10th grade’s state board exam with 100% in Mathematics and 98% in General
Science. Mathematics and Physics played a glaring role in my decision regarding my major
as I performed exceptionally well in them during my Intermediate and stood in top 1
percentile in the examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education in my state
by scoring 100% in Mathematics and 99% in Physics. All of these made me yearn for the
science behind the machines and to quench the building thirst, I took the first step towards a
prodigious career. The amazing task of moving the world is the monopoly of machines, so I
made Mechanical engineering my choice. I successfully cleared the ‘EAMCET’ which placed
me within the top 2% bracket amongst over 200,000 takers. With a score of 92 percentile in
EAMCET I enrolled in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering at Chaitanya bharathi
institute of technology, Hyderabad. My undergraduate education at the Chaitanya bharathi
institute of technology has provided a thorough exposure to the various specialties available
in Mechanical Engineering, thus stimulating interest in advanced research.
This interest in mechanical engineering has lead me to do prestigious project of our college
which has been organised by Formula SAE (FSAE) Italy 2015. With a team of 25 members,
we have built a formula car under the team name Praheti Racing. This project has lead me to
learn advanced concepts on Gas dynamics, ECU (electronic control unit) and manufacturing.
With these knowledge, I have also participated in FSAE UK 2016 where I am a power train
head. In these I have used knowledge of Gas dynamics to design and fabricate Intake
manifold and exhaust pipes. This interest has lead me to use RICARDO software in
calibrating the performance of KTM 390 engine. I have made the performance of the KTM
390 engine unaltered after using Restrictor of 20mm in the intake manifold. This drive in me
lead to do Internship at BHEL and PENNAR industries where I have studied about steam
turbines in BHEL and Chassis fabricating in PENNAR industries. The above internships has
increased my knowledge in manufacturing sector.
During my course of Engineering, I have secured a GPA of 8.52 out of a scale of 10. I have
not limited myself to a particular area of Mechanical Engineering. Also, my keen interest to
stay abreast with the evolving methods of designing has helped me in gaining an appreciation
for languages such as AutoCAD, Solid Works and ANSYS. This interest in me has made to
opt Additive manufacturing and Computational fluid dynamics as electives and secured Max
grade in both subjects. Apart from courses in my college I have also completed
ACOUSTICS AND NOISE CONTROL and CONTROL ENGINEERING courses in
(Indian institute of technology) IIT Madras organised by NPTEL. MATLAB is also included
in the above course as a part of solving problems in both the courses.
STATEMENT OF INTENT

My undergraduate engineering degree has left me with keen sense of appreciation for the
need for evolution of engineering & technology. A Master degree will further equip me with
intellectual depth and breadth along with greater practical knowledge to face the professional
and leadership challenges I will face in my career. After a good deal of self-evaluation, I’ve
decided to pursue graduate studies in Mechanical Engineering. This decision naturally
followed after carefully considering my academic background and areas of work.
