INNOVATION AND

DESIGN THINKING
NOVEMBER 29 – DECEMBER 2, 2017. MUMBAI
OVERVIEW
Truly remarkable companies are like a pair of scissors. One blade is efficiency in production and
execution; the other blade is creativity or innovation. Most companies already focus on efficiency, but
fail to do so for innovation, as innovation is often portrayed as something that cannot be defined,
described, or copied or that only some gifted people can do. This programme provides proven tools and
methods to sharpen your innovation skills and apply it to the challenge of corporate growth. This helps
in the simultaneous pursuit of differentiation and low-cost to create new market space, which can make
the competition irrelevant for both the company and its customers.

Understand and apply the logic and tools of an Innovation and Design Thinking to
OBJECTIVES real companies. This will help to drive product and service innovation, process
innovation and market innovation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS PROGRAMME?

Senior and middle managers from industries who are exploring growth opportunities and/or are facing cut-throat
competition due to which their margins are being affected. Organisations are encouraged to nominate multiple
participants so that they will be able to apply the learnings to real in-company projects.

METHODOLOGY
Pre Programme phase: (Starts by Friday 24th November 2017.)
Participants will be given programme materials a few days before the start of the programme. These readings will
help them know about tools that make strategic planning process more effective and how thinking like a designer
can transform the way one develops products, services and processes. The readings will also give some examples
of companies which have created uncontested market spaces. Participants will be expected to read these articles
and come well prepared. They also have to equip themselves with knowledge and information of companies in
their own industry and/or eco-system with similar environments and challenges through assignments given
during this phase. We will create learning clusters of participants based on their learning needs.

During Programme: (There will be an introductory-cum-ice breaking session @ 7:00 pm on 29th November 2017.)
The programme will be conducted in a workshop mode which uses a series of group and individual exercises.
Participants will analyze and address a significant business challenge they are facing in their current organisations.
This will give them a practice in applying the principles of Innovation and Design Thinking to their own
organization. Exercises will be supplemented by mini-lectures, discussions and case studies.

Post Programme: (Continues for at least one month after the workshop.)
At the end of one month after the programme, the participants have to submit their projects - identified during
the three days’ workshop and for which they will be mentored online. This will enable the participants to anchor
back the learning in the organisation. Further they will be provided additional reading materials, one each every
week during this period based on their learning cluster. They will also have to undertake a couple of quizzes. We
will provide a detailed report on the learning journey of the participants to the sponsoring organisations.
