Introduction
Section Two of this Elementary Portfolio Project detailed the educational experiences
and professional background that led me on this journey to become a professional teacher.
Section Three of this portfolio allows me to showcase my abilities and possession of the key
competencies one must have in order to be an effective teacher, as evidenced by ten artifacts I
have developed during my studies in the Master of Science in Education program at Medaille
College. These artifacts serve as confirmation that I have successfully acquired and refined the
professional disposition, my commitment to teaching effective math and literacy lessons, and
also to be sensitive to students with disabilities, from various ethnicities, religions and
addressed. Each artifact will address the Interstate New Teacher Assessment Support Consortium
Standards (InTASC), Council for Accreditation for Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standards,
New York State Code of Ethics for Educators, and the Ontario Teachers Ethical Standards.
Additionally, the following standards will be discussed throughout my artifacts: New York State
P-12 Common Core, New York State Learning Standards, Ontario Curriculum Expectations,
International Society for Technology Education for Teachers and Students (ISTE), International
Literacy Association Professional Standards, as well as the Council for Exceptional Children
(CEC).
I have chosen the following artifacts to best showcase my effectiveness, ability, and
English Language Arts lesson using Book Creator, a Pecha Kucha presentation on special needs
awareness and support, a literacy lesson plan on compare and contrast, a 4-lesson math learning
segment on patterning, a cultural awareness learning activity, a literacy newsletter for parents,
