FAN FIN COOLER FOR GAS TURBINE COOLING SYSTEM
MUARA TAWAR PROJECT

1. Purpose
This specification concerns the Lube Oil cooling by water circulation.
The purpose of the system is the cooling of the following elements :
 Generator bearings lubricating oil,

2. Description
2.1 Constitution
Lube Oil are cooled in paralel.
The off-base cooling system is mainly composed of :
 Fin fan cooler modules
 An atmospheric expansion tank
 All interconnecting piping, instrumentation and valves

2.2 Fin fan coolers modules

a). Mechanical equipment
Modules are installed in parallel and made of :
 fans (blades in aluminium)
 plenum and framework (mild steel)
 supporting frame
 air and water compact heat exchanger

b). Electrical equipment

Fans are direct driven by electrical motors. In each module, fan motors divided into two
groups :
Block Module 1
Permanent 011 88FC1
012 88FC2
013 88FC3
Controll 2 FAN FC1-3

Motors Characteristic Value Unit

Power 15 KW
Number of motor 2 pcs
Voltage 400 VAC
Frequency 50 Hz
Speed 1000 Rpm
Anti-condensation heaters 1A-1B-1C TR Cn (n is the index of the 230 VAV
corresponding motor)
Fan Blade Characteristic, divided by 6 group ( 1 goup as stanby
unit)
Fan blade material Alumunium
Fan blade diameter 1240 Mm

An alarm “High cooling water temperature” is displayed if fin fan coolers outlet water
temperature higher than 45 ̊ C.
An alarm “Cooling water temperature sensor is trouble” is displaied if water
temperature is below 20 C
̊ or above 80 C
̊ .
 Each module can be isolated with butterfly valves at the inlet 1A-1B-1C and at the outlet

2.3 Expansion Tank (Make Up Water Tank)

a). Mechanical equipment
The expansion tank is installed on the GT air inlet filter structure.
Expansion tank volume is designed to permit the coolant dilatation due to temperature
variation and ensures a minimal pressure in the circuit.
o Capacity : 0.9 m3
o Material : Mild steel

b). Instrumentation
 Level indicator 1A-1B-1C indicates the water level in the expansion tank
 The low level switch 1A-1B-1C send an alarm “ expansion tank low water level” on
The GT control panel if the level is under the low level.
Setting point : 200 mm under the centre line of the expansion tank.
3. Fluid
Water Quality and control : according to Gas Turbine Manufacturer specification
Additive : Nalco 2000 as anti-corrosion product for the first filling and the make-up.
Supplier : NALCO COMPANY, Indonesia
