Artifact #9 – Parent Newsletter

I have a parent newsletter that I made during course work at Medaille College. This letter

provides parents with information about an at home reading program that can be utilized to assist

students with their reading. This letter reflects my knowledge of the importance of home/school

communication and the importance of professional collaboration. In addition, this letter

demonstrates my ability to engage not only the learner but parents in their child’s learning.

Welcoming parents into partaking in their child’s learning is very important as research suggests

that parents who partake in their children’s learning fair better academically than those who

don’t (Unal, 2008). Therefore, this letter proves my care in helping my students reach their

academic potential.
